Here is where I placed my tape...you can see it covers the entire area where the pin would slide into place on the latch.

I couldn't tell whether there was also tape on the side of the silver latch plate (the vertical surface where the side of the latch makes contact with the frame). The tape worked best for me when it was on both surfaces.

No tape on the side for me. I didn't have any issues there. It is still squeak free.

Lucky! The dealer has ordered a new side panel for me that is going out to get painted. Hopefully this will fix it. I placed the tape on both the top and vertical side of the latch plate with no luck. Anytime I remove the panel the sound is better either less or gone for a few minutes and then comes back as I drive. With tape in both locations on all 4 plates the sound came back just as bad.

Anyone with this issue also having water leak issues? With snow on the roof and melting I get water drips in the rear driver side. Next issue to be addressed.

I put tape on both the top and side of all 4 plates. Seems to have worked for me on the chatter. I believe I also have something making noise on the back hatch/window but it is slight and minor.

Could this be filed as a lemon? I haven’t brought mine in but been dealing with the squeak

Update on the Starbucks straw trick... it worked for awhile and now the squeak slowly came back.

So that definitively rules out the metal on metal scraping with the latch and pin. This time I just sprayed WD-40 into the pin mechanism and that seems to have done the trick (for now). I am pretty convinced that the pin mechanism inside of the panel is what is causing everyone's squeaking. The tape / straw trick might have temporarily fixed it since it may have pushed the pin into a position where it wasn't squeaking.

(Note: I tried tape as well originally, but the pin kept ripping it, which is why I then tried the straw)

Given the recent lack of response from Jeep Wave and my dealer I have started looking into this process, however, rattles/squeaks do not qualify for lemon. Given I have now been in 3 going on 4 times for the water leak this may be the approach as water leads to mold. I am starting the process for a BBB complaint given the amount of time I have had to spend following up with Jeep Wave and my dealer and no resolution to date. I do understand that a Wrangler will have some rattles but the sound in my video is unacceptable for a car less than 6 months old.

On another note are others getting a loaner car when the dealer needs to keep their Jeep for over 24 hours? The dealer asked to have my Jeep for 3 days and when I asked for a loaner car they said they would have to look into it.

I am getting same thing with my Shara JL Unlimited with sky power top. Brought it to dealer who said they lubricated and the noise went away for about twenty minutes. I called them and scheduled for this Friday which hopefully will take care of the issue. I understand some squeaks and rattle are normal with a Wrangler but this squeak is constant, only coming from one side and it’s enough to literally drive someone crazy. It’s not matter what type of road you drive on, smooth, bumpy, even pulling out of driveway. Love this vehicle more than anything so hopefully they will be able to fix it and make it 100% perfect.
Did they fix it? My $61k 2020 wrangler JLU sky one touch is doing the same. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times and problem hasn't been resolved. Jeep corporate is worthless and they dont know how to fix the issue. Sad!

No, I have been waiting 3 weeks for the dealer/Jeep to figure out a loaner car as they want the Jeep for 3 days. I call 2-3 times/ week with no update other than “we are working on it” so the whole situation is disappointing.

Curios- were your rear quarter windows screwed down with screws when you took delivery of your jeep? Mine are and I'm afraid to remove them in case that opens pandora's box to a rattle

Should not be any screws other than the two per side that fasten the pins.

They were not screwed down. As I was looking at the Jeep the sales guy pulled them out by using the two latches to show how easy it is to remove.

Thank GOD for this forum! I bought a 2020 Sahara with power top in October, and I’ve loved it except for that annoying chirping noise coming from my rear window. It has almost literally driven me insane. I took it back to the dealership and they said once I take it out the sealant never goes back in properly so that’s why it squeaks (which sounded like a load of BS to me). I’ve tried everything ... and after finding this thread I’ve now put the Starbucks straw on... and have ordered the special tape that arrives Friday. I will update you guys on how it works for me.

One thing I did notice is that the 2020, it’s not a metal tip... it’s a black plastic. But I’m sure that’s still causing the sound I’m hearing. Did they go from metal to plastic from 2019 to 2020?

Good luck and keep us informed on how it works out! I’ve not removed the windows from my 2020 in fear of begging trouble!
