Any thoughts on using this mount to install a Cb antenna instead of the brake light?

Well, you could use the cutesy black grill affair itself for one or the other. No room for both antenna and light.

The black grill affair is very rigid, decent quality metal. It will remain rigid/strong even after your drill the needed antenna hole it it.

The black grill affair when installed resides far enough from the wheel so antenna would not be resting on the tire.

YES, I would say ok to mod for CB antenna... and would look/perform great!

Actually, I had thought some CB guy would really like this to use once he saw it.

Do shop around for price on the relocation kit. You should be able to get for a little over $75.

I'm actually hoping to use the existing hole, may need to shim it with washer.

That's gonna sit pretty high up then. Good for the antenna, but not great if you ever wanna pull into a garage.

Did it work?

By eyeballing it it looks like it doesn't come out far enough for the antenna mast to clear the rim offset and sidewall budge.

I almost wish I could find a pair of those extended lug nuts and make it myself. (And save $60)

You can find antennas that fold over...at least you can for HAM radio. Comet makes antennas that fold over but I'm not sure if they do or not for 11m (CB).

This is the link for Ham Radio Outlet... www.hamradio.com ...they have all sorts of whiz-bang gizmos for mounting antennas.
