I am unable to put the soft top back on. The one side is in the lock position and will NOT unlock. So I have one side in lock and one in unlock and obviously can’t get them back in. Any tips?

Yeah, try pushing down/pull up on the "LOCKING MECHANIZM" while you apply "UNLOCK" PRESSURE--

Don't try to force anything--it'll break loose-

Good luck

So far so not good. I laid it full out on the lawn, tried a little push/pull. I wasn’t applying much force at all. Stays in lock with no release. Also tried initially when it was nicely together with the same results. I’ll keep trying...

OK, one last thought--try pushing DOWN ON THE LOCK BUTTON AND THEN PULL UP !

I'm without any other advice--never been through this

Good luck

I am very lucky. My husband was loading stuff for my daughter’s college move in and tried to raise the top not knowing about the locking issue. He stopped when he felt resistance. If ever an audible alarm was needed it is letting someone know they are about to F up their soft top. He has never driven it and yes I schooled him on the locking mechanism. But he either forgot or you can’t really distinguis locked or unlocked since it is all in black. I need to find some nail polish and paint the icons.

I understand your concerns, I wanted to share this great informational video that may have better insight into this. https://www.jeep.com/wrangler/exterior.html#wranglertop

A video of lowering the top is not going to help his situation. His lock mechanism is stuck in the locked position.
OP's photo shows a big screw . Unscrew it . If won't unscrew ... Lemon . Call Mike Manley , CEO .

How did you finally fix this? Take the soft top to the dealer? I had the same issue today when I tried to install my soft top. Thanks

ok i just fixed mine . This is what i did ..first i put the top back on the jeep, by putting the side that was locked in the bracket and putting the bolts in but not tight . Next on the side that was unlocked i got in the jeep and rotated the unlocked side to the same position as the locked side and had my wife put the bolts in (this will take some strength) . At this point i pulled down on the top and unlocked the locked side with ease. Not sure how The top got in the locked position but i will be looking for it next time . Hope this helps .

Yes, I didn't want to apply too much pressure or bending, and I took it to the dealer. The last thing I wanted was for them to say I caused the issue. It was the first one they saw like this, and they appeared concerned that this new unnecessary locking mechanism could be problematic. I haven't applied the stupid lock since that day!

Hey so sadly I am in the same boat. I think I can manage what you are suggesting, but its like the locked side wont move at all. So basically I dont think I can throw the soft top on. Once you got the unlocked side in and screwed down by brute strength, and put it in the locked position, you just brought it down by the release lever and once it was down you were able to unlock both?

Having an issue with my soft top which was just installed by the dealer. I put it down fine but it will not go back up the whole way. It gets hung up and the problem seems to be with these brackets. Do these pics look normal? Both brackets look like this and I have a hard time believing this is right?
