The aluminum panel, painted black, at least at night gives it a whole new vibe!

I feel like, in daylight it won't look as badass as it does at night! 🤷‍♂️

Got some bigger fender washers keep the grating in place.

I'm hella down!!

Let me pay shipping though! Unless you want to drive to Texas, in which case I'll get you a case of beer and a shot of whiskey!
If'n the Lone Star wasn't such a hike, I'd stop by to say Hello before heading over to Abilene/thereabouts to visit an Air Force buddy. 👍

If you want the struts, PM me your ship-to address

The hood prop is all I'll be using for a while now.. realistically I could probably install some el cheapo hood struts at this point. At least that way I will be able to access the engine bay without fear of knocking that prop out. 🤔

I have these on my wife's Jeep and they are on the list to add to mine. Unfortunately they don't require you to drill any additional holes so you may not like them 😜

Purchased my new rear window for the hardtop today. At least one piece of it. I'm kicking around some ideas.

It's a 48" x 24" steel shelf rack. $14 at Lowes!
I'm having flashbacks to massive fumes coming in the rear window of Dad's station wagon when we had the rear window open like that. I guess that doesn't happen with Wranglers?

anybody who has a soft top and runs it...with the back window only out (which is an option with the soft top, it's probably the most versatile top out there)
Be careful, G. :) The soft top's rear window performs an important retention function for the side window panels. They're designed to work in concert with each other. This is a consequence of the soft top design on the JL-gen Wrangler. Driving without the rear window in situ isn't really recommended, as it makes the side windows a bit more likely to unseat themselves while the vehicle is in operation.

While the factory top on my YJ wasn't perfect, the designed-in ability to roll up or remove the rear window without affecting the integrity of the side windows is something I still miss.

What the hell is up with your license plate?

You live in Texas?

I didn't know we were allowed to take a marker and make our own license plate!?!?:movember:
Bought it from Mark Dodge in Louisiana. Still haven't received my real plates yet. Have fun tomorrow in Bridgeport.:jk:

I wanted a more metallic green, kind of shiny and transparent, but the auto store didn't have that color so, John Deere Green will have to work.

Put some m10 by 1.5 stainless steel eye hooks where the brush guard bolts go.

And painted them...

1000003513.jpg

Figured I'd do the d-ring shackles on the front bumper as well...

1000003514.jpg

According to the can it's in enamel paint, so I guess that means it holds up a little better to the thrashing I'll probably end up giving them. 🤷‍♂️

It actually looks pretty good too!

I looked it up a while back, like a week or two ago, the m10 bolt has a thread stripping strength of about 13,000 lb I think it was if you pull straight out. You have to put about 13,000 pounds of pressure on those bolts before they strip themselves and come out.

The stainless steel that the eye bolts are made of has a tensile strength of about 150,000 KSI, and I know the threading on the frame of the Jeep is hardened steel which has a tensile strength of like 180,000 KSI.

So even more than just for looks, these can hold up to some pretty hefty pulling.

The realistically I'll probably put all the weight on the d-ring shackles, but these are an option as well. But realistically they are mostly just for looks!  😁 :fingerscrossed:
The threads will theoretically hold until 13k pounds if everything is perfectly straight. I've never experienced perfectly straight when doing a recovery, but maybe that's possible?

They're connected near the end of that chunk of metal, quite a ways away from the frame. Remember that torque equals force times distance.

I personally wouldn't pull much with them, but I might be slightly more risk-averse than you.

I'll probably take off the fairlead and paint that tomorrow evening. :like:
In a couple of months you hang these from those eye bolts. Wait, hear me out. They're seasonally relevant, they match, your diff covers, and people Will no doubt say, "Damn, that Jeep has balls!"
