Diesel and European. One is GM approved and one Mercedes approved. Not typical oils for American gasoline passenger cars.

Actually "Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40 has the General Motors Service Fill dexos2™ approval, which is required for all 2010 and onward new GM/Opel/Vauxhall/Chevrolet Diesel and Gasoline models." Both are oils sold in America for cars sold in America and not API certified. Meet the criteria challenged. I can find more if you like.

Flat out BS. You are attempting to twist something to validate your point. Show me any reputable source that proves that major oil manufacturers have BOTTLED oils (since Amsoil does not sell bulk oil--let us keep this apples to apples) that have failed API certification.

Also post the policies that were changed as a result of this.

AMSOIL sells most oils in 275 gallon totes. New chain of custody for bulk oils https://www.api.org/products-and-services/motor-oil-matters . Meh. He got his answers early on. There's been plenty of good info in it, though. I realized thanks to @2020Sport that the actual language in the owners manual says MS6395 certified oil is "recommended" and that it doesn't say "required," as I had previously believed. That's good to know as I like to run Mobil 1 most of the time.
