I don't know where you dreamed that up, but my point was that I do not feel sorry for any of these people who are grossly overpaying for new or used vehicles. They are the ones responsible for the price increases. Is it that hard for you to understand?
What's your solution to the issue? Buy a different new or used vehicle that's overpriced?

I'm afraid you may be right. As long as everyone sticks to the script of low supplies, etc., there's very little we as consumers can do about the situation. There's really no way we can verify actual parts or labor shortages, we have to depends on what manufacturers tell us.

Deming's just in time has conveniently turned into when we get around to it. A fair amount of money can be had when you carry zero inventory of parts and supplies. Don't get me started on all that PPP relief cash manufactures and dealers squandered and failed to use as intended.
I've got a buddy who works for the railroads in Chicago. They are presently negotiating their new contract. His company had a $140m profit last year while cutting back workers' hours and laying people off... which has helped contribute to the supply problems were seeing today. I moved to Milwaukee 4 years ago, but before that I worked for a Kitchen & Bath design firm in Northern IL. One of our cabinet lines came from Germany. Once the shipping container got to Chicago, it would sit in the rail yards for three weeks because there was such a backup... and again, this was 5-6 years ago. Whatever your favorite political party is, the problem we are seeing today had been around for many years, COVID has only made it worse. Billionaires are pocketing more and more money while we are fighting each other over whose side is at fault.

I dont understand the turn this thread has taken. This is a market economy, and jeeps are goods. Makers pay what they have to for labor and materials, and pass that on to retailers. Sellers charge what people will pay.

Nobody is forced into anything here, nobody even has to participate. There are no good guys or bad guys. New or used, jeeps are not a necessity. Buy what you want or you need, if it's worth it and you can afford it. Otherwise, buy something else or do without.

By the way...I have yet to see anyone on this forum complaining about the price they actually paid for the ride they actually bought.

There are, however, people here complaining about the fact that people are buying new Jeeps. We are apparently the problem.

Bit of a catch 22, huh. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t. I canceled a 2021 order due to financial reasons. Figured “I’ll order in a year or two.” had I known prices would go up this much, this fast, I would’ve just picked up an extra shift at work lol. Kind of kicking myself now that I’m looking to order again.
Honestly, that's what I did (extra shifts). I started looking in the spring of '21 when new were still selling a wee bit under MSRP. By the time I ordered mine last August, the prices rose at least twice, and most places (SE WI) were selling for above MSRP. I had $10k to put down, but I was planning on buying a condo in the spring of '22, so I put $5k in the stock market, and picked up a couple shifts a week at the bar/restaurant across the street from my apartment. Not knowing what the future would hold, I've kept the job. It covers the entire payment and I'm able to save an extra $200 a month. I don't think I want to do this for the entirety of the loan, but I have no plans to quit doing this in the near future. I also did buy the condo right before the rates jumped... so at the very least, I have my big bills cost controlled for the next several years and savings building up as well.

Awesome man, I’m glad it’s worked out! I’ve honestly done better by just dealing with a financial bind and picking up an extra shift or two. This is the first time I played it safe and the first time it didn’t work in my favor :CWL: I think it’s life’s way of telling me to enjoy life and quit worrying about everything lol.

Yeah, this is basically the midlife crisis car. My dad was self employed and it was normal for him to work 60 hours, so I can't really complain about 55 or so... plus I've got the Jeep!

What you are really seeing is global economics combined with needing to keep investors happy instead of profit going back directly to companies.
Elon just announced the software for his autopilot will increase to 15k in September.

I am always part of the problem, never part of the solution...

I'm pretty sure they're still doing the "it's not part of the car, so the next owner doesn't get it" as well as "it doesn't go with the owner, so it can't move with you to your next Tesla", right?

Wonder if they are hedging a bit in case the manufacturers do end up officially liable when their software causes an accident. That's going to be a rough transition.

CAN$112,140.00 converts to USD$84,402.06.

Per the configurator, the 2023 Rubicon 392 starts at USD$82,495.00. So, I'd suggest that there's reasonable parity here, despite the sticker shock.

The 2024 Rube 392 starts at USD$88,190.00, which presently converts to CAN$117,172.76.
