Hello,

I am working on building up my 2023 Willys 2-Door Wrangler for some fun overlanding adventures this summer.
I purchased a Garvin Adventure Rack for my 2-door. (300lbs limit moving, 600lbs static, 54 x 72 x 4)
I've purchased a lot of camping gear over the years, but I am now looking to buy a hard-top rooftop tent system, that I can build on over the years.
  • Needs to have the ability to add roof racks for canoes, and kayaks.
  • I'd like to have ways to add things to travel or for basecamp, so a side rail system on the tent would be great
  • Looking for easy open/close - really liking the clamshell style, open to others
  • Additionally, I'm looking for advice on how best to pack up my 2door jeep, without taking the back seat out completely, just folding it up.
  • I plan on camping 5-7 times a year
  • Battery, water, kitchen station
Any advice on where to look?
Do you have any examples you can share of a successful 2-door rig?

Thank you.

Get an OffGridTrailer and keep everything in trailer for camping and not haul anything in jeep.

Just curious, why would you want to leave the rear seats in if you’re going to keep them folded and the back packed up? You’re just missing out on extra space, adding 70 lbs of extra weight.

This. Back seats totally need to come out. Take up a lot of space when folded.

Yes, first mod I made was to remove the rear seat. It transforms your cargo area. Also be careful about getting too top heavy especially if you are truly overlanding and will be getting out on some unlevel trails. As far as gear… minimize and miniaturize your collection.

Alone or with family, makes a HUGE difference?

When overlanding in a 2dr, your primary issues will be space and weight. You must keep both to a minimum. Look into lightweight backpacking gear. Not necessarily for everything but as much as makes sense. Keep an eye out for multi-purpose gear. Shave size & weight everywhere you can.

I definitely have a good head start, I go canoe camping a lot, and weight / function is huge.

Dont know your financial situation but as someone mentioned there are some truly great Off Road trailers that are capable of following you over some rally hairy stuff. A Patriot is just one of many out there. Real suspension with shocks and large dia. tires are the ticket to that success. You and your Canine com padre" will be happy overlanders. Don't forget the 50# sack of Gravytrain. Dogs are big fun camping and wheeling.

My wife and I are looking at swapping out our off road tear drop for one as I described.
Happy adventures Joey and Big Dog!
