That's a stupid statement. I don't decide what lane to drive in based on my speed. I decide based on everyone else's speed.I hope you stay out of the left lane.
Rubi takeoffs aren’t 315mm wide. They’re 285/70. Also, how low do you let your gas tank go before fillup? I’ve noticed I never get more than 14.5 gallons in and it’s close to empty every time.Since March I've been keeping a record mileage every time I am at the pump.
pre Rubi 315 take offs:
March 16: 245.2 miles 13.7 gallons = 17.9mpg
March 24: 213.0 miles 13.6 gallons = 15.7 mpg (not sure what happened here)
March 31: 223.5 miles 12.62 gallons (installed 315/70/R17)
post Rubi 315 take offs:
April 26: 223.5 miles 14.24 gallons = 15.7 mpg
May 7: 182 miles 11.9 gallons = 15.3 mpg
May 18: 195.9 miles 13 gallons = 15.1 mpg
May 29: 213.5 miles; 13.34 gallons = 16.0 mpg
lost 3 miles per gallon... not too bad!!
Thanks, thoroughly enjoyed the trip and plan to do another one soon.Great Adventure ! Congratulations on such a nice rig, and knowing how to enjoy it...
Yeah these were optional Rubi take offs. I usually don't wait until yellow/red to fill up.Rubi takeoffs aren’t 315mm wide. They’re 285/70. Also, how low do you let your gas tank go before fillup? I’ve noticed I never get more than 14.5 gallons in and it’s close to empty every time.
True. But when you “average” your “averages” you can get a good feeling for it.I don’t buy the idea that manual mpg calculations are necessarily more accurate than the computer.
The JL is finicky in how it accepts fuel. Unless you are filling, and patiently repeatedly nursing to overflow on the same ground every time, you have variables too.
I’m good with the computer readout.
True. But when you “average” your “averages” you can get a good feeling for it.
On average, my computer average is about .5 mpg higher than when calculated by hand. Sometime it’s higher by more than that and once in a while it’s lower.
It’s pretty close though!
Good point!Which leads me to wonder “Why bother?”
Same here Logic. I didn't buy my JL expecting anything near to the mpg's it's actually getting. We did a 200 mile round trip to the mom-in-laws house at the base of the Smokey Mountains in NC. 95% 2 lane, and the rest interstate so the speeds were limited. But at 24.7 mpg's for that trip I was quite impressed. I don't expect anything near that at interstate speeds driving a brick with 4 wheels into the wind though. My bone stock JLUR with the 3.6 has been averaging somewhere between 19-21 combined city+hwy, I've been very impressed. I see 22-23 on long road trips, and I'm no grandpa driver either. I usually cruise around 75mph and make passes over dashed yellows up to 90mph.
You got that right Joe, there's more to love.Y’all’s Jeeps may be “bricks with 4 wheels”.
Seems like a lot of y’all got that one.
Mine, on the other hand, is a Ferrari with a lovely little pooch, big pretty legs, and adorable love handles.
Ain’t nothing wrong with a big thick girl now.
