I took my jeep in because the dipstick d said it was over full. I had oil change done at a jeep dealership and questioned why it was over full. I have the 2.0 turbo motor with e torque. The tech drain the oil and also verified the dipstick versus another vehicle with the same motors dipstick. He then proceeded to drain your oil and then put oil back in at the specific amount, and noticed on both dipsticks that it read over full. He even left a small amount of oil out to account for the oil filter. Can anyone with the 2.0 check their dipstick and confirm the amount of oil the dealership said they would contact someone higher up for information about possibly at oil dipstick two of the wrong length or dipstick on the wrong length. Just a heads up but also let me know if you’re oil level is above the marks. Thank you.

The oil quantity specification for the 2.0T is 5 quarts, as published in the Owner's Manual.

I change all of the fluids in my JLU. I've found that pouring in 4.75 quarts, in conjunction with a new filter, allows the oil level to settle just below the upper hole on the dipstick after a brief drive to distribute the new oil.

The dipstick is really terrible. Per the manual, it is supposed to read properly if you stop driving and let it cool for 5 minutes. But if it cool/drains longer it ends up reading high.

After changing the oil with the required 5 quarts, I let it sit over night and then etched the dipstick at that level with a nail. I know others here have done the same. It’s a much more useful level to have marked

When i took my Jeep to the dealership for its first free oil change, the dipstick read really high when I checked it after. I read on this forum that dealerships were putting 6 quarts in because thats what the JKs took. Since then I have done all my own oil changes and one 5 quart jug of oil fits perfectly in my 3.6L. My guess is you got 6 qts.

No he assured me that he put in the recommended amount. He said even did it twice cause he was confused on why it was reading so high

The oil *must* be checked per the directions in the owner's manual, no joke. While the engine is at operating temperature, shut it off, and check the dipstick at 5 minutes after shutoff. When I do this after an oil/filter change and putting exactly 5.0 quarts back in, the level is dead on "FULL".

If you check it after the engine has been sitting for a while, it will appear as if it's a quart overfilled. That's actually a false reading and you should not drain oil. Check the dipstick per the procedure outlined here:

Just did my own oil change for the first time. Drained everything, put 5qts back in my 2020 Wrangler JL. The oil level on the stick is high when my engine is cold but barely, and I mean barely, above the minimum line marker after running the engine, turning it off, and waiting 5 minutes to check it. Should I be concerned that it's so low after the 5 min mark even though I put in 5 qts? Thanks
