I would throw it back at the dealer to fix theirs sh$t. One of them screwed up my tire carrier bolts on the JK by using the impact on it

They have a little rubber gasket which probably melted itself on. 13mm and a huge breaker bar or your jack handle over the end of the socket wrench.. Lefty loose. If you've tried that, then heat it gently, then do it.

If you screw up the drain plug, you can buy them at the auto parts store.

If it’s stripped, the damage is already done. If it’s over tightened, use a six (6) point socket and a long breaker bar or cheater pipe. Slowly pull until it gives. It should come loose with slow steady pressure.

I would recommend having a new plug ready incase the head breaks off. I would use the new plug anyway, as the old one has been overstretched.

did my oil change the first time after my wave ended on my 2019 JLU 2 years ago. Dealer put the bolt on so tight that I stripped it. Went to the local hardware store to buy extraction socket set and was able to get the plug out. Bought a new drain plug at the dealer and was good to go.
So if you end up striping the bolt don’t stress just buy an extractor set to get it off.
Pretty sure the dealer didn’t hand tighten my drain plug and used the driver on it.
this happened to me too. Removed the old with an extraction set, put on a new one and went on my way. NBD.

Any other weak people out there?
I have a 2.0 Turbo, and can't get the bolt/plug on the oil pan to budge at all. I tried 1/2" and 13mm sockets. Even added a breaker bar. I changed the oil myself the first time, with no problem at all. I didn't even think about the oil pan plug bolt.
Over the winter (2nd oil change) I had the dealer do it -- it was cold, and I had a Jeep Wave freebie. Third oil change was supposed to be today, but I failed. Miserably. And I'm concerned I'm going to strip the plug. Any advice from more experienced ppl other than "get stronger?" I hate being weak. But I also don't see myself dedicating time to muscle building any time soon. I guess I'll cash in my next free oil change, but It's going to be well past due by the time I can get an appt.
Sounds like the dealer cross threaded it. A flank drive socket might work, but be prepared to helicoil.

Every time I see this, I can't help but think it's a bad idea because of how far it would hang down. You're better off going with something like https://nospillsystems.com/ since then it's no worse a clearance/rock catching issue than a normal drain plug.
I have been very happy with my Fumoto valve and feel that it is not in harms way, with or without the metalcloak under armor. This is on a 392 steel pan.

Just so it is in this thread: What size Fumoto? And anyone using ValvoMax?

If it was a top filter I would say to invest in an extractor and never have to get under it again.

The problem there is they will get it loose and probably mangle it and charge you for a new overpriced plug and then proceed to overtighten it and still charge full price for an oil change. And now the new plug is too tight and you send it back again. Rinse and repeat. The service writer will defend his jackasses saying it was you and not them.

I use the valvomax and it’s great. I love it. The extra tool is actually nice since I have the Metalcloak skids and it eliminates the mess. I don’t remember size but when on their website it asks you year, model, make, etc and leads you to the correct size!

I asked and they said they did not know for mine, did not have a 392 in their database (sorry, left out that minor detail). I have Artec skids and am looking forward to when the freebie changes run out at which point I'll add a valve. I like that ValvoMax is USA-made. A couple of folk have commented that the valves do not have a magnet (like the stock plug) to capture any metal particles, but that it did not seem to matter.

Ohhh got you, sorry. I’ll look into my orders, I’m sure the size didn’t change but I could be wrong. I remember somewhere that someone added a magnet into their “fill hole” and used the drain plug with valvomax. I went with motobilt diff covers so I only have one plug. But I am pretty religious with my maintanence and do it usually prematurely, after hard offroading/water crossing so I can keep an eye on metal shavings and worn teeth, hopefully.
