are the OEM units sealed? or can you replace the LED bulbs?
There is a YouTube video out there that shows someone replacing the guts of the assembly with a multi-color light. I wouldn’t have the nerve to do it.

Okay, but it's not just a bulb that you cN swap out, it's like "headlight surgery"
I literally lol’d. You are correct. Not an easy bulb swap. Surgery is a good description of what they were doing. Great reply!

THANKS! I was wondering if perhaps you can just swap out the low-beam led bulb for an HID bulb with ballast and not have this "not enough heat to melt the snow buildup problem".

guess i'll just deal with it.

We have completed the first set of adapters that will successfully convert your halogens to Mopar LED. Plug- and - Play. No Tazer or re-flashing from the dealer is required. Simply plug in our adapters to correct your flickering, turning off, and high beam/low beam not working properly. we will include our fuse-taps as well so you can connect easily to your fuse box or you can tap into the parking lights so you control when the halos are on or off.

To both JLeeper and EgGreg and anyone else who can assist:

I have a 2018 Sahara JLU with the halogen package.

I am upgrading all of the exterior lights to LED.
I've already successfully switched the taillights to the LED Hourglass lights.
I took the easy route and installed LED bulbs in the stock Fog Lights, no problems.

This is where it gets interesting and I want the info and necessary hardware before doing the swaps for the Morimoto Fender DRL/Indicator and Mopar LED Headlights.

I received the Morimotos last week and the Mopar LED headlights from Tuscon Mopar yesterday.

I simply unplugged the stock H13? cable from the existing headlight bucket to test out whether the headlights/halos work. Unfortunately, but as expected the Halos do not work. The low beams and high beams did, however.

Here's my question: In the educated opinion of everyone here who has successfully completed what I'm trying to do:

A. Should I install the Morimotos in the fender first since I am going to have to tap into the DRL wiring in order for the Halos to work?

B. What hardware (modules) do I need in order to get the headlights and morimotos working?
*The morimotos are the latest edition, do they have the resistors pre-wired to prevent hyper flash and insure that the sequential blinkers work?
*Would the EgGreg or JLeeper module added between the bucket and factory cable be necessary?

BTW, first post here, I apologize for the wall of words but I want to get it right!

Thanks all,

Matt

I bought a set of JW Speaker LEDs from Amazon and ordered the Morimoto 7" headlight retrofit kit, as well as a set of LED fog from The Retrofit Source. Very happy with the lighting and didnt have to touch any wiring or take mine to the dealer for programming

The factory computer doesn't like when we switch to OEM Mopar LED. Many times there are other issues when swapping the halogen headlights to LED. As mentioned in these posts, usually the high and low beams do not work correctly ( the low beam shuts off when you turn of high beams) and after a little while the headlights shut off. Our adapter harness will fix these issues and your halos can be wired easily.

The whole conversion should only take 2-3 hours for everything. You can do everything in a day. I would swap the headlights and leave the halo wire in the 'area' make sure the headlights work properly then move onto the turn signals. We are authorized dealers for Morimoto and The Retrofit Source as well and can beat most prices.

Also the bulb on factory halogen is H13, but the factory connector into the bucket is not an H13 on the JL.

Yesterday was one of the days I’m happy to have the non-LED halogen bulbs. Weather in Chicagoland was crazy and a few errands ended up leaving a frozen mess. Saw another LED JLU and could barely make out his headlights as I passed him, but the standard halogens gave off enough heat to melt the mess.

Are these adapters still needed? I have a 2018 JL sport. Just installed the rubicon 3 piece metal bumper with led and some oem takeoff led's. I am going to order the Tazer.

The tazer will take care of any issues with flickering and high/low, did mine last night. I installed OEM LED fogs and headlights. Still need to connect the halo wire though. Tazer also lets you set it so the fogs stay on with the high beams which is pretty cool. Also put in the diode dynamic switchbacks which the tazer fixes the hyperflash so no need for a resistor.
