Got wifey a 2023 JLU for Christmas last year and thought she is always on the go, she’s only been about 8,000 miles so far.

Her “check engine light” came on (for the 2nd time) and the dealership actually told her to take a video of the check engine light flashing! I got in touch with the service manager and dropped off the Jeep yesterday, where it still sits. Service rep originally said it gave a code “about the #2 cylinder” but no further details. This morning, another rep said the tech was trying to get the code to present itself again, and then later today, told us there may be an issue with a VVT sensor or something like that, and was keeping the Jeep for another night!

if this is what it is like to own a new Jeep, I shudder to think about what to expect as it gets older. Not feeling the warm fuzzies here.

Almost 16k miles on my 23 JLU and all is well. About 9k on the wife’s 23 jl and also no issues. Both have the 2.0 turbo 4 banger.

It will get sorted out, however, it’s not going to be like any other vehicle dealership service department you’ve ever experienced…….it is what it is, and the ones that are Jeep people understand and roll with it, the people that drive Jeeps not so much….if it’s to much to bear, maybe the wife will be getting a different brand Xmas present this year…….;)

On jeep #12. Only had issues w a cad conv back on jeep #2. You might get better help at a jeep meet rather than the dealership.

What were the codes? What type of engine?

My 2023 2-door Willys V6 manual had misfire, lean condition codes on Bank 2, passenger side cylinders. There are several reasons for this include oil leak onto up stream O2 sensor which shorts out and the computer treats it like a lean condition. VVT sensor failure is also one of those reasons.

I had CEL, flashing, start/stop malf, basically engine ran like crap, with rough idle below 750 RPM.

Took it to dealer and they knew all about it. Apparently there is a Star Case open for this problem. They replaced the valve cover gasket, O2 sensor and it runs fine now.

The whole experience was a PITA, and honestly took some of the shine off buying a new Jeep. But, hopefully, it’s sorted out and things won’t keep breaking. Time will tell.

as the jeep gets older you stop getting service lights.

you stop getting them because they no longer work. probably due to loose fuses..

Ditto to post #3.

By way of example, I had a coil pack fail on a brand new VW. The interior still smelled new. It was towed to the dealer, where the pack was replaced under warranty and all was well for the rest of the time I owned the car.

Vehicles are mechanically complex machines. Things can and will go wrong, no matter the marque. Give the dealer the opportunity to make things right and go from there. ?

They have been having some real issues with the 2018 and up Jeep so I have been told. Some of them they can’t even find out what is wrong with them. I don’t blame you after owning 4 shara jeeps I am not feeling the love either. I my wife told me to get rid of our 2020 and get something else that the dealer can at least fix if there is issues.

Does your JL have issues?

Or going to sell to preempt any issues?

Thankfully I have a warranty and it will hopefully last until I learn the quirks of this Jeep.

Had a few with the others mostly oiling. After reading some of the things that people have posted about issues I think it’s time for me to kiss the Jeep world so long.

That is silly bro, have owned 2014 Jeep wrangler, 2020, 2022 no issues.

Owned a 2019 Silverado almost killed my neighbor because the brakes would not work in the cold. Sold that POS Chevy.

It's amazing that a new car can have so many problems related to just piss poor workmanship. My new Jeep was full of loose fuses and can bus connections. Nothing like driving down the road in a new car and having almost all the systems fail.

My 23 so far is great 5000 miles. Just be glad it is not a4xe they tend to live at the dealership.
