Hello so I recently raised the Jeep and spun the wheel with my hand. This is the noise that the wheel|axle area is making. Is this normal? Jeep is in 2wd and is the front axle. Only driver wheel is this loud. Passenger side the noise is much quieter, almost non existent.

Sounds normal to me. If you spin the rears they will make the same noise.

Ok only one of the wheels on the front axle makes the noise. The passenger wheel is almost non existent. Here’s a video from the passenger wheel.

The front driver side axle shaft goes right into the spider gears in the differential. The passenger side shaft is disconnected at the FAD, therefore the gears aren't turning. IMO, what you're hearing on the driver side is the rotation of the axle shaft and the spider gears and you won't hear that on the passenger side.

Put it in 4Hi and see if the sound is same/similar for each side.

That makes sense, thank you. I’ll check in 4hi in the morning.

You're welcome. It's been awhile since I spun my wheels like that, but that's what I remember it doing. Each of the rear will do it too, since each shaft goes directly into the diff.

When you spin one wheel at a time, the entire differential third member is rotating, that’s 6 gears meshing and spinning around. If it’s not making a noise while driving, it’s fine.

service the fluid anyway.
