I currently have the Noco 5, but it takes quite some time to charge. Is anyone running any other Noco products that are more fast charging? Or any other brand chargers?

What style battery are you trying to charge? The way an AGM Battery should take a charge is different from a regular lead acid battery.

I have a new NOCO Genius 5x2, and I’ll have a set of battery clamps for mine soon. It’s actually meant to be a fixed mounted unit like in a Boat or an RV. I wanted it for the weatherproofing that it has and the auto adjustment for proper charging in the HOT or COLD Temps.

OEM 12V and aux battery. I did see that one. Looking at the boost ones as well, just not sure if they live up to the hype.

I went with the one I bought because it can also be a Maintainer. My Old Schumacher will not properly maintain an AGM. It did work well for my 64 Corvair though! LOL!

I also bought this because both of my new off the shelf AGM batteries were way low on their charges. That surprised me because the date code on the H7 was 10/23 and the Aux was 05/23. As installed in my Jeep, it took better than 12 hours to bring them up to snuff.

I got the GBX75. First one refused to take a charge after a few months sitting around. Exchanged under warranty. Second one was DOA. Third one working but it is very slow to charge.

I also have a NOCO 5. Please elaborate on “quite some time”. Longer than overnight?

it got to about halfway charged overnight. I may just have a bad main or aux.

Thanks - makes sense for two batteries.
No. Read what I linked. You need more than 5a to charge just the main battery. (I took AUX out of the picture.)

I would not charge both at once, anyway. I used to do that until Enersys specifically recommended against it. Nothing unsafe about it, but the algorithms in these fancy AGM chargers expect just one battery. Gone are the days of lead acid simplicity.

Doesn’t charging the main also charge the aux?

Covered in detail in some of the threads in the Battery Talk area. Yes, they will both charge, but not optimally. Really do go read what I linked and watch the YouTube there. Spoiler: I ruined a Northstar AGM with a Noco-5, but they warrantied it for me.

This is another great thread, and this reply in particular is well worth a read: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/battery-maintainer-question.87013/post-1825354

@VKSheridan very aptly explains why charging two dissimilar batteries works and is safe.

That said, I have an Odyssey battery and Odyssey charger and spoke to them, directly. They warned that using my OBC-20a charger on two dissimilar batteries at the same time will not optimally charge either one. (A six stage digital charger does a lot more than your alternator.) Moot point for me because I hate ESS and took that and the aux out of play.

Do take some time to educate yourself so you can make an informed decision. You already have a Noco-5, so why not relegate that to the AUX and pick up a beefier charger for the main? (5a is fine for that little ATV battery.) It’s not difficult to separate the two batteries for charging at the same time with two chargers.

I have the NOCO Genius 10 and two of thier jump packs. The NOCO-10 is perfect for me. With an automotive battery, I prefer atleast 10 amps... imo 5 is just to little... it will work for a maintainer... but definitely light duty. The jump packs are a GB50 and a GB70.
