NOCO GB70

I am 100% positive the NOCO was fully charged, I routinely charge it every month or so. This morning, went to start Jeep, got the "click", and all hell broke loose. Warning lights, stuck in park, even windshield wipers cycled slowly (and were not even turned on). Jeep start button stuck in "run", dash lights would not turn off, warning light of water in fuel filter, like I said, all hell broke loose! Grabbed the NOCO to jump start, hooked it up, waited 30 seconds, tried to crank engine, nothing. Attempted same procedure a few more times, nothing. Let the NOCO sit and just let some juice flow through to battery. Eventually, enough juice flowed, that all the "hell" problems went away, but NOCO still wouldn't jump start Jeep. Used all the juice in NOCO up, from 4 level bar down to 1 level bar. Called AAA for either a tow or jumpstart. AAA guy brought out his carry pack, a JNC660 1700 amp Jump-n-carry. Hooked it up, and Jeep fired right up. I am wondering why my NOCO GB70 at 2000 amp didn't do the job? Maybe I was really close to starting Jeep with my pack, but just needed a bit more juice and it wasn't there (used it up) and AAA guy pack didn't have much more work to do to start Jeep. AAA guy said ditch the NOCO, they are junk. Thoughts from forum?
Ended up with a new battery, regardless.

Look at the size of your Noco jump pack compared to the size of his. The battery in his can send a high amount of needed juice longer regardless of max ratings.

A previous NOCO GB50 I had lasted just over 3 years and I just replaced it with a new one this past January. I keep one of them in each of our 3 vehicles 24/7 which subjects them to a lot of over 100 degree days here in SoCal. It worked fine when I had a Ford F250 6.0 diesel with no issues. I top the jump packs and our vehicle batteries off every couple of months. I’ve been very happy with them.

I also keep a JNC 770 in the garage for use at home. No problems with that either. My individual experience with NOCO products has been excellent.

Assuming these are the size numbers you are talking about:
My NOCO = 2000A
AAA guy pack = 1700A
I would think if my size is higher by these numbers, it should have worked.
Attached is a picture of AAA guy's pack he used. Also attached, my NOCO currently charging.

You know I trust a tow truck guy to operate a tow truck maybe but as far as anything else no. He got lucky his had enough juice to do the job that's all.

For what it's worth my sister runs a repo company and the number of tow truck drivers that she's had to fire because they did something so incredibly stupid as to defy all logic is pretty high.

Not sure if NOCOs are junk, but they are his "competition". I suspect he'd say the same about any consumer-level jump starters.

That said, I own a GB40 (wife's) and a GB50 (mine). Your GB70 should have made short work of the issue. As an aside, many of us have experienced the battery-induced light show. It's quite spectacular.

At this point, if I get a flat tire, I blame the battery. :)

Tow Boat uses Noco jump starters for marine diesel boats and mine will jump the 2F in my FJ40 when the battery is completely drained. If I get worried about something on the boat not working, I bring it along just in case. They're good enough for me.

I bought the biggest NOCO they offered a couple of years ago for my fleet shop. It was garbage right out of the box. Had to get a refund. The replacement lasted a couple of years. I also bought a smaller one a couple years back and it works great.

Those numbers are max ratings. I was talking about physical size.

Not sure why my unit did not do the job. I am positive it had 4 bars of power and green light illuminated. Only thing I can think of is, not connected properly, somehow, but while it was connected, the battery took in juice from the NOCO lowering it to 1 bar.
Now that I think of it, first time using NOCO may have been my operating error. I connected NOCO clamps onto the nuts pointed to in yellow. Perhaps using those nuts was not right? I did have positive clamp on positive side and negative clamp on negative side.

Your NOCO was competing with a dead battery to power the starter. By the time the tow truck driver got to it, you had less dead battery.

Ever try to open a jar and can't get it to budge, then a kid asks to try and you humor them only to watch the lid come right off?
It's like that.

Monthly recharging is very frequent for a lithium jump pack. Was the NOCO's existing charge exhausted prior to each recharge? How old is the unit?

Unit about a year old. When I would bring inside to charge, unit was still more than half charged up.

I’ve had my NOCO for a few years and learned the hard way to keep it charged every month.

By way of example, and without accusation :), the advice given to me by Antigravity (the brand that I use) is to ensure the jump pack is discharged before plugging it in. 1 bar is acceptable when recharging, 2 is ok but only occasionally, but 3/4 bars should be left undisturbed.

My Micro-Start is probably 7 years old and continues to function as new.

We use the same M.O. for my wife's HALO Bolt lithium jump pack.
