Received the Noco Genius 10 I ordered. Have an install question. I plan on using the eyelet connections, positive to battery and negative to the available chassis stud near battery. My question is this, can the positive eyelet be connected to the open/available stud on the positive battery terminal? My understanding is that there are three studs there (like a bank of studs) that come off the positive battery post, one is for main battery connection, second is for aux battery connection, and third is for power connection for accessories like additional lights. Can I use the third stud for the charger? Thanks.

Want to add another question to this. I did the aux battery bypass by pulling F42 fuse and aux battery negative cable disconnect/tape up/out of way from main battery. By adding the Noco charger, will the Noco only charge the main, or will it still charger main and aux battery, even with aux bypass done? No need to charge an aux battery I do not use. Thanks for input forum members!

Holy smokes, THAT is a ton info! I read through most of the posts/pages and even some link posts to other pages that was given. Some posts were just chatter I could decipher as not needed for my needs, so I skipped over them. Others were long detailed info that made my head spin! I did see the picture dictating the possible connections to the battery, for example, on positive side positions 1-2-3-4, and on negative side 5-6-7 (which position 7, I read is a no-go zone due to IBS not reading a fully charged battery). In all posts I read, I did not see any mention of utilizing the negative stud posts near battery at the fender? With my mind now overloaded with info, good info though, things are running together and I am thoroughly confused. What I am going to do, is take a picture under the hood of my setup, label connections points, and please let me know what number for positive and what number for negative is best. Thanks forum!

Here is my current setup. Aux battery bypass done, F42 pulled and aux battery negative cable disconnected and tucked away, hence only one negative cable (and IBS) connected to main. Per the attached photo, I have a set of cube lights connected to #4 and #7 spots. Also, I connected the Noco Genius 10 to #4 and #7 spots. Keep it this way, or change connection spots? Thanks.

You can connect your NoCo Genius directly to the positive battery post. In fact, it’s preferred so that the device doesn’t get misled from a corroded connection or wiring resistance.

You should connect your negative directly to the battery as well for the same reasons.

You can connect it to a chassis ground but if you have wiring resistance or a wiring issue that is creating your need to trickle charge, it could render your trickle charge inadequate.

Your auxiliary battery will receive voltage from your NoCo Genius provided the cables are still attached to it.

Ok, thanks for info. So I should switch my setup, connect Noco positive to spot #1 and negative to spot #5?

That would be fine. Any location directly terminating closest to the post is best.
