Thanks! I don’t believe you can order the steel bumper group for the Willys. Only the Sahara plastic with the black gloss accents. One of my mods will probably be the factory Mopar steel bumper.
First off, congrats! Excellent choice. You can easily mod your rig to almost Rubi level.

You can order the steel bumpers, or at least have the dealership add it for you.
We didn't want the rear steel bumper but we did get the front. The dealership did ask if we wanted the winch, but at that time we passed on it.

I love the OEM steel bumper. I like the fact you can remove the end caps if you want and it is winch ready if you need to add one.

Funny you mentioned Iowa.
That's where we had ours driven up from. Go HAWKS!

The XR package is really worth the $$ IMO.

All we've done for MODS as of now was to add Apex AutoLynx sway bar discos and the Mopar lift.

You are going to love that rig!

Beautiful Jeep. I hate the fact that you can order the steel bumper group for the Willys, but cannot add the factory installed winch. Makes no sense.
Jeep has a lot of stupid ordering requirements that force you to "build it their way". I believe the steel bumper group is only available on a Rubicon. What I don't like is how Jeep forces options, even on the Rubicon. Want a steel bumper on a base Rubicon and you have to take it with a winch. On the Rubicon X I believe the steel bumpers are standard, but if you want the winch you have to order it (exactly how it should be). Last I looked the Rubicon X came with color matched painted fenders (they take a lot of rock damage driving off road and on gravel thus the reason I like my black fenders) along with a color matched hard top (I have a soft top and like it) and the only way to get a Rubicon X with a soft top is to order the dual top group. Come on Jeep; quit screwing people into upping the packages to build the Jeep how I want it.

ABSOLUTELY GO HAWKS!!! love seeing Hawkeyes in gopher land! My ex in laws live in the cities, my ex wife and daughters and I used to go up there all the time.
I was surprised to see how many were on lots in small town Iowa! I live in central Iowa and just got lucky enough to have one of the family dealerships very close to me that had 3 Willys XR’s on another one of there lots in Eastern Iowa!

Love yours by the way!

Cograts on the purchase. I have a 22 Willys XR and love it. Knowing I have those 4.56 gears with the upgraded axles, knuckles and 35s from the factory made me feel better about getting it over a "regular" Rubicon. Can't beat it for the price.

Can always mod the plastic bumper too.

Is that your Jeep? Looks awesome! Do you have a link for this bumper build?

I snagged a factory steel bumper from FB marketplace and haven't put it on yet. Forgot I have to get a winch plate and updated metal skid. I was thinking of just sticking with the plastic bumper for weight saving purposes like this but haven't committed to a decision yet.

We got ours here.

Karl of Marshalltown. They had a 2024 XR with the premium audio and everything else we wanted.

They drove it up since they work with our friend that owns the leasing company we use.

We were just down in Iowa City to drop our daughter's car off and to watch the game on TV.

OP,
If you are looking for a fairly affordable mod that is a very good one, look into these once you take possession.

It's my Jeep. Did this mod over this past winter after getting the winch during the 12 days of Christmas sale at HF. All in, I have $515 into this project.

Didn't do a thread, but sure seems like I posted some pics I took while in process. I can tell you it's a Barn's 4x4 winch plate for the steel Rubicon bumper, and that the steel support for the plastic bumper is still one piece.

How do you like the Badland?
I'm considering that one or the lower end 10K Warn.

The sale was too good to pass up, and I knew I wouldn't spring for a Warn. The winch is solid and configurable if needed. I like the synthetic line--no other winch experience.

Having the winch and some recovery pieces is nice to have on the trail just in case. I don't do serious rock crawling or mud.

Pulled a SXS onto it's wheels in Moab a couple of weeks ago, so it's nice to be able to help others too.

I really like the apex auto lynx. They will definitely be a mod in the future.

I'd rate the Badland over a Warn. I own both. Go look at Matt's Offroad and you'll see they abuse the hell out of Badland winches with zero issues.

This is good to know.
Plus the fact Matt's crew uses them frequently compared to what I'll probably be doing makes me think it's a good call.

After that, I may get some additional skids for added protection underneath.

The XR really is a great package whether it is on a Willys or Rubi.
