Have owned two JL Wranglers over just a couple of years and had a first time experience today. As we were approaching a disabled tractor trailer on the side of the road, an alert popped up on the radio display. TOW TRUCK AHEAD. Prior to the alert we had seen the flashing lights of the service vehicle and had not known of this radio display feature before today.

Most will not think this to be much, but I do. I have seen with my eyes a virgin night sky, have you?

So.. it should be able to warn people about speed traps too, huh?
Google maps does this pretty well. Also shows stalled vehicles and such.

Waze does it too, but Waze sucks. Don't use Waze.

When Google finally does crowd-sourcing, I'll switch. Waze rules for showing police alone. The irony is I think Google owns Waze.

I had forward collision warning on prior vehicles. Personally, I found it annoying; I purposely avoided getting it this time around.
I have to say it saved me in my truck. We were at a stop with a car in front of us and they went (or so I thought) after doing the left/right check I hit the accelerator only to be overridden and avoid a rear-end collision. I doubt I would have stopped as quickly as the system reacted. It's a keeper for me.

Yeah Google owns Waze. I tried Waze once and couldn't drive with it. It was way too distracting, had a bunch of little cartoons, an overcrowded map, and kept popping random stuff that made it look like a video game. It was also buggy as hell on android Auto. It is made for kids that app. Probably made by a bunch of young very talented and underpaid just out of school or bootcamps software engineers. How do people drive with Waze?

Nope. Done with that bullshit.
Waze is great, especially the police alerts.
You just have to turn off all the bullshit they put in it.

I've used it with AA for years and yes, you'll need to disable some of the options. It's as stable an app as I've seen and it auto launches right onto the screen without fail.

Yup, fellow Waze user since the beginning. Lol. Anyone remember when you could chat to other Wazers?

It's always been flawless on any Android device I've used it on.

Waze is a terrific offering.... I travel the interstates lots and for years have used both Waze and Google Maps daily.. Both work well for me with wireless Android Auto.... my JL with 8.4 radio and AAWireless dongle.

I was also a tester for Sygic GPS Navigation & Maps but recently, I bailed from that offering, as it just could not compete with Maps and Waze..

My wife literally can’t drive without Waze. Even on routes she should know by heart. In the Jeep the other day, she had to pull it up on her phone and constantly check it, since I have the base radio.

I can’t drive with any GPS maps. They mess with my head. I understand well regular maps, but the digital loses detail as you zoom out and won’t stay oriented to North. My mind works in N, E, S and W. Not ahead, left and right. Army training. I always miss exits and turns when I try to use it.
