Shocks will not make a huge difference unless they are specifically valved for your vehicle (Vehicle weight, application, coil spring rating, etc. taken into consideration).

Ride quality starts with the correct coil spring rating for your vehicle's GVM. If you have that wrong then it is not that easy to get the setup to work in harmony.

Coil springs and shocks is all about harmony between wave frequencies...

Different shocks probably won’t help. Usually companies that offer shocks and springs pair/ tune them with each other. Without knowing the spring rate, it will be hard to pair different shocks. Tires play a huge role in ride quality. 30-32 psi on C or D rated tires is best.

Replied to your other post. Shocks are a huge part of your ride quality and will make a big difference, however like mentioned above the right combo of spring rates and shock valving will really make it even better.

What do people think about new shocks paired with stocks springs on spacer lift? I am planning on putting on a 1.5inch spacer and have read that without extensions, even a modest lift like this can put undue stress on the OEM shocks.

Yeah, you should at least do extensions, or a little longer shock. It’s best to stay in the middle of the stroke as possible for the best performance.

I got a set of the Mopar 2" lift shocks for free. I have a Currie 2.5" lift. I am blown away how good these shocks ride. The only problem is the shocks are a little short for my lift. They top out. I am going to get some synergy shock extensions for now. The plan is to later get the Fox 2.5 shocks.
