The Toyota seats are terrible and on long trips my back and hip are in constant pain.
I'm just gonna be honest and say that if these longer trips are in any way a decent portion of your driving, you're also going to be sorely (ha) disappointed with the jeep seats.

I spent several hours comparing models and coming up with builds that would suit me. I really like the Willys in the picture below. It has everything I wanted except for the leather seats and it looks like I can just go aftermarket on them or live with the cloth and nice covers. I would like to add the "1941" or "American Flag" hood graphics listed for the Sport but they don't seem to be available on the Willys.

Unfortunately I called my local dealer to order and they are not taking any orders for '21's and the order banks are not open for the '22's yet.

I pretty much give up. Two companies are dangling vehicles that I would buy without hesitation and they both are unavailable? This is pretty much the way things usually go for me. I'm waiting to hear back from a local dealer; he is trying to find a built one that matches what I want. I really don't want to settle.

Unlike that other automaker, the switchover from 2021 to 2022 model year orders shouldn’t take more than a week, at most.

Go have a beer or two and come back. The dealer should then be ready to take your order. With new price increases, of course.

The hood decal can be bought through the parts dept or from many of the online Jeep parts sites. Getting someone to install it correctly, straight with no bubbles, is another thing. If you watch some YouTube videos it’s not that hard to DIY.

Also, you are attempting to buy at a time of record low inventories and record high prices. Patience will be needed.

If you don't want to settle why aren't you doing a factory order from one if the volume discount dealers recommend to you on the first page?

You'll get exactly what you want for 4-7% under invoice. You just have to wait 3-6 weeks to get it!

I looked and didn't see a list of dealers; just individual posts with recommendations. Am I looking in the wrong place?

You won't get one that fast with the change over to 2022. That will add a couple of weeks at least.

Hello all:

I am one of those guys from that other forum and I am coming to the realization that after almost a year of waiting I will probably not see my new "other vehicle" until the second quarter next year.

I am getting to the age where retirement is looming in the not so distant future and I want to buy one last fun vehicle while I can still justify it. I'm currently running a '19 Tacoma and I don't really like it. The Toyota seats are terrible and on long trips my back and hip are in constant pain.

I've had three Jeeps ('56, '72 and '90) and loved everyone of them. I sold the '90 about three years ago; the frame and suspension rust was out of hand and it was starting to get to the point of unusable.

I visited a local dealer and he had two identical 2 door Sports in stock. I drove one and I have to say that I wasn't thrilled about the amount of oversteering that I had to do on a brand new vehicle. I am not sure if this is just on the "base" vehicles or if this is something that is on all of them. I've had a lot of Mopars in my past so I am used to the constant steering correction; I just thought it would be eliminated by this time.

Honestly, I really hated the look of both of them; the wheels seemed like they were too small for the fender wells. Maybe it's just me but I really didn't like them. I want a two door; I'm just not a big fan of the four doors.

I have tried the factory build website but it is underwhelming. I can't seem to find the different options that I want. I found a few on the dealer search but some are a few states away and I can't justify the trip unless I am getting a "can't pass it up" deal. I am located in central Pennsylvania and I can't seem to find any large dealers with great reviews as far as service and price.

I want a Jeep with a nice stance; not sure how to describe what I like. I don't need lockers or sway bar disconnects but I want some height over the Sports that I saw and I want some larger tires.

What I'm looking for:
2 door
remote start
leather
heated seats
AC
Cruise
Auxiliary switches
auto
33" tires

What I am not sure of:
Which engine? Is the 4 turbo enough or am I better with the 6?
Can the "start/stop" feature be disabled?
Can I get factory lifts or can I add one without voiding the warranty?

I know it's near the end of the model year: do I try to order one now before the price increase or do I wait and see if there will be any changes in '22?

Thanks!
What I'm looking for:
2 door
remote start (
order w cold pkg)
leather
(you can add Katzkin leather)
heated seats (
included with cold pkg)
AC
Cruise
Auxiliary switches (
order the tow package which has the AUX)
auto
33" tires (
buy a set of Rubi take-offs)

What I am not sure of:

Which engine? Is the 4 turbo enough or am I better with the 6? (both are good)
Can the "start/stop" feature be disabled? (yes)
Can I get factory lifts or can I add one without voiding the warranty? (warranty is a concern)

I know it's near the end of the model year: do I try to order one now before the price increase or do I wait and see if there will be any changes in '22? (I would wait at this point to see if anything new might be a better fit for you)

You can buy a ordered JL for 5%-8% under invoice if you are OK with traveling. Call Criswell or Gumpton Motors. Criswell is probably closer to you but they are offering less disconts than Gumpton now. Probably a $1K-$1.5K difference in price on average depending on what you order.

Criswell can be between 3%-5% under invoice. Gumpton is 8% under invoice if you take their financing for 3 months min and use affiliate pricing. Probably a $1.5K-$2K difference in price on average depending on what you order.

Check and see if your employer is a FCA Affiliate for the discount. If not, join Tread Lightly.

Yes - it's a long thread don't give up! There is no list per se - but there is a search function with the magnifying glass in the top right of the page. Go to that and type in you town, or state and see what comes up (select to just search this thread).

Better yet - just post on that thread where you are and can someone recommend a dealer - someone will reply.

A few months ago there was a relatively stable number of dealers with known discounts - but the supply issues have made that move around a bit and the list is a bit shorter right now. You can get a good deal through an order though - and it sounds like you really shouldn't deal with your local dealer if they are telling you that BS.

It would help if you mentioned where you are located? Maybe you mentioned it but I don't recall?

I am in central Pennsylvania: almost dead center of the state. I posted in the dealers section looking for info but no responses yet.

I talked to a saleslady at Criswell and she checked with the manager: they can still order '21's. I sent her my build and she is going to see what she can do about the price. She said she will not be able to do much with what is on the lot but can with customer builds/orders. She is also looking for incentives/coupons and whatever else may be available to me. The local dealer this morning told me that there "are never discounts on Wranglers". Sounds like I need to avoid that dealership.

Thanks again to everyone that has responded. It has all been very helpful!

suggest you take a look back over there as people sent some info. FYI - you have to talk to the right sales person at the dealer - you will see those 2 people on the other thread for Criswell. And mention this forum. Otherwise they act like any other dealer

My $0.015 worth.

Order the 2022 Jeep you want (e.g., Sport , Wilys, or Sport S)
Order the 3.6 engine.
If you want leather, Katskin is a good aftermarket option

Need a mild lift? Find a Rubicon suspension take off. They are sold cheap on CL and FB.
You can go with the Rubicon take offs wheels / tires
Or you can go aftermarket wheels (e.g., Dirty Life, Method, etc.)

What ever mods you add, make sure that its good stuff. So much overseas stuff is junk.
Most American made stuff is good (e.g., Rock Krawler, Artec, American venture labs, etc.)

As a data point, check out the build link under my avatar. Bunch of good info there (IMHO).

Of course, I'm biased. Get the manual tranny.

Also, if you become a member of Tread Lightly, some dealerships offer at least 1% below invoice.

Looks like "Chief Blue" which is unavailable if you order.
