New 2024 windshield cracked already

I'm pretty sure she just went to the dealer. She had bought the extra warranty, but I guess it has some stipulations. She's handling it through her insurance.

Let us know what the cost ends up to be for one of the new windshields.

I would be more interested in the OEM part number for the windshield on a 2024 JL.

Hopefully, someone with a 2024 JL will take a picture of the OEM markings (part#) that are on their JL's windshield (found on lower corner driver's side of windshield) and post it in this thread.

With the exact OEM part number pricing, etc. can be easily found..

I'm still trying to get clarification from her on the 6" specification. It's way larger than 6".

Good to know this isn't covered under warranty. I'll let her know. I'm sure she's going to have to go through her own insurance. She's just upset because she's only had it a couple of weeks.

Understandable. Years ago, I bought a truck 450 miles from home, drove it off the lot and an opposing passing truck kicked up a rock and starred the windshield less than a half hour after I bought it. I just wanted to punch a tree and have a double tequila shot.

I wonder if a big outfit like Safelite has an inside track on the factory glass. They often use factory glass for newer vehicles.

I know both times I went to Safelite for windshield replacement on my 2018 JL, I was told that what they install and had availability of was only an OEM windshield.

My JL is registered in NY and I have State Farm so no deductible/no charge at all for the windshield replacement.

USAA does not cover windshields in IN, falls under standard deductible. I've asked a few times, including when I got my JLR (JT prior).

jeeps are notorious for windshield cracks--she should have been upset that it took this long!

Would they not replace it because it wasn’t 6” long? If that’s the case, park it in the sun for a few days, peck it with a ball peen hammer a little, it will probably spread, then you can try again!

Not mine.....but I’m currently at a JEEP dealership having some repair work done on my 2022 RAM 5500.

Gorilla glass part number.....

Standard glass part number.....

Those will be the OEM windshields you will find on any 2024 JL/JT.....

Jeep replaced my wife's gorilla glass free replacement. Rock hit right on the edge of the glass the crack was all away across the window.
