‘21 Rubicon with 70,000 miles.

Rear led parking lamp stopped working. Took it to my local Jeep dealership (Don K Whitefish Montana) and was given the news, “this is happening with more and more Rubicon’s but Jeep won’t fix it since the led is built into the fixture, it can’t be changed like a lightbulb and it will cost you $2,500.71 to buy a new fixture”

at 57,000 miles, my dash started blinking for the rear diff being engaged although it wasn’t. Again, Jeep knows it a faulty part. The sensor in the diff wasn’t made “water proof” and goes bad sitting all day in diff fluid. The entire rear drive shaft would need to be replaced and again, cost thousands.

anytime I drive off a paved road I get warning lights randomly going off on my dash. Come to find out again, this happens all the time and it even has a name among owners, the Christmas Tree of Death.

I was told today at the above dealership that Jeeps are no longer made for serious offroad driving. They did a study and found most never see dirt so they stopped building them for it

The new Jeeps just aren’t worth the price anymore. Switching back to a Toyota when I can afford to.
LED built into the fixture? I'm trying to understand something as the owner of a 2024 Wrangler Willys 2-Dr. Is the dealer saying that the rear tail light bulbs for your 2021 Rubicon aren't replaceable? According to Mopar, for the 2021 Rubicon, they sell parking lamp bulbs, side marker bulbs, park and turn bulbs, and rear tail lamp bulbs. Prices range from $7.48 to $16.41 on the Mopar web site. Here is the link that I found... https://www.moparpart.com/search?search_str=Tail Light Bulb&ptid=13662

They also have tail light assemblies and diagrams of internal parts (wiring, bulbs, etc.) as well. I don't see any prices on the Mopar site with any prices like the $2,500.71 the dealer is talking about.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps op would prefer a Grenadier

The Build:
*Scottish White
*Smooth and Rough Pack
*black leather seats
*saddle leather package
*High aux package
*Tow package
*18" steels / KO2's
Notwithstanding the foregoing, this has been my experience in the six (6) weeks that I have had my Grenadier:
The Issues:
[Please see photos and videos of all issues indicated below]
*ALL door seals have had to be replaced:
The dealer represented and warranted at time of delivery that ALL seals (i.e., doors, rear cargo, safari windows) were all water tight and had been tested twice.
However, all of them leak.
Having the experiences below, there is absolutely no way that the dealer could not have been aware of this issue. It is absolutely blatant.
*The Safari Windows leak:
They leak into the headliner, electronics, dashboard, and footwell from what I can tell so far.
Water flooded into the car from behind the rear view mirror, passenger door footwell and headliner. I had used my very low pressure hose to get rid of bird droppings; no car wash, no high pressure wash. A hose. Now, the interior is ruined... after 6 weeks.
*Headliner Stain:
Headliner permanently stained and dealer says i'll have to live with it.
I will not "live with this". As a $90K car, why would I even have to be dealing with this?
The previous car I had, the dealer and manufacturer bent over backwards to make sure that you were happy and that the car was 100%. This has been the OPPOSITE experience.
*Paint Gouge & "globby" undisclosed fix:
Approx two weeks after purchase, I noticed that the dealer covered up a gouge in the paint on the driver door with what looks like nail polish (photo attached). It's GLOBBED on. Dealer says if I want the original factory paint then there's nothing he can do. He can re paint the door but no guarantee re: color match. Unacceptable.
*Interior damage was present at delivery (I did not see it and the dealer did not disclose):
The driver side door appears to have scratch marks as if someone took a knife to it. One very long scratch is at driver side knee area is present. I only noticed it upon opening up the door to show a friend the car and she spotted the scratches.
The dealer begrudgingly offered to replace parts a month ago. No response. They don't pick up or call back.
Today I connected with them and they won't ship my local dealer the parts, I have to drive 150 miles to where I purchased the car to pick them up and have them installed.
This is unacceptable as this should never have passed inspection in the first place and now the dealer is telling me that they never told me that they would ship the parts to my local Ineos dealer.
Why is it that I have to get audibly upset in order to have anything done with these Ineos dealers and the company itself? I don't want to be that person, but I have no issue with doing so should the circumstances require.
*Rear Cargo area leaks:
Leak occurs even when doors are closed. Rubber gasket is warped beyond belief.
*Used parts provided and represented as "new":
Dealer offered to "throw in" rubber floor mats as the car has carpet, which I did not want, however, the rubber mats he provided were USED. They were not sealed and when I told him that they appeared used, he made unacceptable excuses.
*Driver Seat Fails to Engage:
Driver seat doesn't engage OR it engages when I have had to stop suddenly - point being that I pushed the seat back and forth hard to make sure the seat was locked and by all means I thought it was. However, it wasn't, and I didn't know until it could have been too late. The seat also engages "one click" to the left or the right. IMO, the "unengagement" of the seat poses a serious risk of injury, death, etc.
*Electronics have the usual quirks

*Carpetting is not cut properly and EVERYTHING sticks to it.
It costs approx. $5-6K to install the plastic flooring
*Grinding Noise (rear drive train):
This is concerning. At low RPM's, when I tap the accelerator and let go, just before I stop I hear a grinding noise. Some think it's the exhaust, however, the "grinding" vs "exhaust" note has become more pronounced.
*Saddle Leather Steering Wheel:
Buttons are "squishy" and a new steering wheel had to be ordered. I've owned the car 6 weeks and it needs a new steering wheel. Interesting.

Looks like the MSRP of a Mopar LED tail light is $1,100 each; you can get them for $750 a pop. That is $1,500 to $2,200 in parts, depending if you pay full price or not. See below

It takes literally 10 minutes to swap a tail light.

If the dealer is quoting $1,500 in parts, then $1,000 for 20 minutes of labor seems excessive.

If the dealer is quoting $2,200 in parts + $300 in labor, then the dealer is still being excessive.

The bigger story here is that CDJR dealers, Jeep and Stellantis have very little credibility left with customers. And I share that feeling with the OP.

My current 2023 Gladiator is very likely the last vehicle I ever buy from Stellantis.

Isn't that what you said when you got rid of the JLU? There are no other real off road options, especially given my personal experience with Ford. My JT will not be the last Jeep I but for that very reason.

Those are all the bulbs for the non-led Jeeps. The led headlights and taillights are assemblies and you have to replace the entire thing. There are aftermarket options and anyone with a screwdriver could figure it out so skip the dealer and take care of it.

So we have to read about you being a big baby that cries and whines. If you don't like your jeep then suck it up and go buy a tricycle or something so mommy can watch over you. Complaining... tolling.... and whining? Take it to mommy and daddy because they are the only ones that "might" want to listen to it!

You will not find a vehicle made today with LED lights that can be fixed simply by changing a bulb. The whole fixture must be replaced unless you want to break them apart and do some circuit board work. If you bought one with lane detection (or whatever it’s called) that will cost more. That said, why have a dealership do the work when they are so easy to swap yourself?

IDK about "not made to go off road". I have a bunch of clients that have '23 and '24 Rubicon that gets beat to hell. I have not heard a single complaint.

Off roading is not cheap and you will break parts, no matter vehicle.

if you think Jeep's are not meat to off road, good luck with that Toyota 🤣

So you're gonna get a Toyota (or Bronco from other posts) but have no concerns on their respective recalls. Toyota has 100,000 engine replacement to do. Granted the Toys older models were rock solid but really no longer the case. The case you present for reasons is pretty slim. I'd get it if you said they were getting outlandish on price or they no longer offer a reasonable engine option other than the over priced 392. My lightly built JLU out wheels my fully built TJ (Did I mention I love my TJ) so no, the wranglers and especially the Rubicon are still built for off-road. The thought that current wranglers are not capable is silly, wranglers didn't have factory locking diffs until the first Rubicon in 2003. Full disclosure, I am in the market for another Bronco (had a Braptor) Different vehicle different purposes. Will I get another Wrangler, much depends on engine options in the future.

Good point! if the gentleman with the 2021 Rubicon has Infotainment LED rear tail lights... and I agree after looking at prices for those as sealed units... I would think twice about getting the LED light assemblies for the Bronco. According to some forums about those, other Bronco owners are faced with the same price dilemma when considering replacing the Ford product as well.
