2019 JLU Sport S, 31k miles, stock suspension.
So, a week or so ago, started getting death wobble. OEM tires definitely due for replacement, but threw in a new steering stabilizer for good measure. That reduced wobble to 68- 72 mph range and intensity much less. Rolled around on the ground checking torque specs and shaking things as much as possible with a jack in the driveway. Nothing obviously loose our out of spec.
Yesterday, we grab a set of used wheels and tires with plenty of tread. 20x9, -12 with Toyo open country 33's. Get those mounted and do a test drive.... way more stable at freeway speeds. Park the jeep and put it in reverse with wheel cranked to the left, and passenger front starts rubbing bumper trim.
Pull the jeep forward with wheel cranked left, pull the ebrake, get out to look and there's plenty of clearance. Leave wheel cranked left, reverse a little, pull ebrake , and tire is touching bumper trim again. I whipped out my handy tape measure, and there's a half an inch of movement between forward and reverse.
I searched many forums and many just say "remove air dam", which doesn't cut it for me if there's a half inch of movement in suspension.
Had the wife pull forward and reverse in full turn while I was under the Jeep, and can't see anything moving. Double checked torque on control arms and checked for play at both front wheels. I'm kinda baffled at this point and just throwing money at track bar, drag link, and tie rods isn't in the budget at the moment.
Anyone else dealt with this?
