Thanks! Yes it’s really the weight of the Teraflex that’s making me consider other wheels. It’s almost double than most.
I don't think its double. Teraflex is in the 40s lbs territory and KMC is in the 30s depends on the model. Still, pretty significant.

I can't say that I feel any difference as the KMCs were on my previous jlurd and now the TF is on my 392 build. I did regear to 4.88 from 3.73 on my newer rig as there was a substantial difference on 38s getting off the line. I would venture to say the difference from weight is more negligible than the appearance of what "most" people are after.
Thanks man. If i had a 392 I’d go with the TF in a heartbeat 🤣. I will re-gear to 4.88s in the future though when i change to 35s.

I did forget to mention one small detail, and this may only have to do with my tools. On both KMC sets of wheels the beadlock holes were snug on my socket when doing maintenance checks, so I was always questioning if the tq settings were correct.

On the TF with my sockets, no issues, plenty of room to fit a socket without it being snug.

True. Still a significant weight difference. Almost double the weight of the stock wheels.

Noted. Thanks a lot man.

Make sure to include mounting costs in your budget when considering beadlocks. And, of course, the risk of being able to find someone to fix a flat when in remote areas.

Yes that’s all considered. I also always carry the spare. Thanks.

I'm on Hatteras all the time at 10-12psi and haven't lost one bead, nevermind two, so as cool as actual beadlocks look I couldn't justify it.

I went with the Mopar OEM slotted wheels when I replaced the factory 33s, I liked the old JK Rubi wheels and these sort of remind me of that silver/gray scheme. Not a fan of painted black accents on off-road wheels, on a BMW maybe...

google the term “unsprung weight” as it pertains to the weight of wheels and tires. I’m far from an expert in this but I had headlocks on a previous vehicle and the weight between the tires and wheels resulted in a very sluggish feel while driving. Now if this is a second set that you are going to swap for your on-road set then maybe it’s less of a concern. I’m not sure if there is anything to gain from more unsprung weight and there is definitely a fair bit to loose.

I sorta agree with the poster that said you don’t need beadlocks unless you’re going to down to single digits. That being said I have spun the tire off the wheel twice now when the tires were in the 10-12psi range.

Thanks. I appreciate the input. I’m very aware of what ‘unsprung weight’ is. Which is why I’m asking on people’s thoughts about the TF beadlocks esp. for those who’ve used them or other heavier set of wheels. What you mentioned about sluggishness is what concerns me the most as that’s what I’m really afraid of if i get the TFs. I don’t have a second set ‘for off road use only’.

The thing is i don’t go down to single digits only because i can’t with the stock wheels.

Are you just going to have the one set of tires and beadlocks or is this a swap type situation? Does this Jeep often travel at highway speeds? I seem to remember seeing exotics absolutely fly down the highway. I only ask as this might also be a factor in your decision making.

Thanks. Yes, just one set. The Jeep gets only used on highways and off road on the weekends. Mostly short trips on weekdays.
