5W-20? Doesn't the manual specify 0W-20 for the JL?
I will have to look at that, I honestly did not notice it and surly they would know what type of dam oil to put in it.

Would you be able to post instructions? I took a quick peek earlier this afternoon and saw a pin in both of them. Do I just pull the pin and tighten?
Yes you have to remove the pin and use a 7/8's wrench. Even though the ball joints are a simply DIY, The uppers can be hard to get to with getting the pin out. So I had my dealer do it.

Mine goes in tomorrow for the steering issue. I called and gave the dealer the TSB# ahead of time. Did this also fix the wandering issue? Thanks!
Mine didn't really have the wandering issue, hopefully the TSB will fix your wandering issue.

Ok!! Just got back from the dealer please see my photo and list of improvements below after TSB 08-092-18 was applied. TSB# was included in the dealer write up.

1. Steering Wheel Play- it has been significantly reduced. When I turn the wheel when parked and engine off, it now feels like my wife’s 2016 Durango.

2. Wandering- it is gone. The Jeep does not wander anymore. I can keep it in my lane and if steering input is needed it’s very little. Just like a normal car/SUV. This has been tested both city and highway speeds.

3. Ball Joints - as you can see in the write up. They were checked and no adjustment needed.

4. I did not mention anything about adjusting the steering box.

Thanks everyone. Let me know if you have any questions.

Don't be so sure. The person doing oil changes at a dealership is usually one rung above the person that cleans the bathrooms (or is the same person).

Checked the oil level this a.m and let’s just say I had to get back to the dealer for another oil change, there seems to be some confusion between the JK’s and JL’s at the service level at least at this dealer.

Has (or is) anyone going to also ask the dealership to do the Control Arm Adjustment - loosen, then tighten to the correct amount as mentioned in a couple of the steering issue threads?

great to hear. Was your wandering that feeling that the jeep just didn't want to stay straight or would go straight but then just go off? I had a 2015 JK and while it is not smart I would do something like reach for a water bottle, look at the radio, glance back at my kids to assist, basically do all those things I am trying so hard not to anymore nowadays and be fine. In my JL I feel like it is very dangerous. even just looking away at say a billboard or something along the highway and I am into the next lane.

then to get it back it was the need to use my entire arm and make the steering wheel travel far to correct it - not just a little flip of my wrist or finger on the wheel. My wife said it reminds her of driving our 21' speed boat at slow speed with the steering wheel.

I have been working with Jeep Cares from here and they are setting up an appointment for me to go over this a few other issues. I tried once with the dealer and they told me, well, they were no help, lets leave it at that. I really hope my highway wandering issues can be fixed this easy. I have been taking many notes from all of you.

Outlanderbz- My JL was acting the same exact way yours currently is. You couldn’t explain it any better. After the dealer applied the TSB yesterday all those issues are now gone. My Jeep would straighten out after I used my entire arm to steer and then would wander (pull, drift) left or right. I can now enjoy my new Jeep!!!

Good to hear and thank you for taking the time to post your experience. It will likely help mine out by Ishowing this to the dealer. @JeepCares said they contacted my dealer and they should be calling to schedule something.

Did you have the cruise control recall done before this particular visit to the dealership? I read that the cruise control recall also flashes the system, which should have also done this same thing as TSB 08-092-18, but I'm not sure if that is true or not.

Not the Person you’re asking direct but I had my cruise recall done June 19th and there was no change. I did read that this TSB came out at the beginning of July so could there have been an update after my appointment or was it and just didn’t correct my issues?
