I'd like to understand more about the rear flap install. I'm interested but don't want to remove that lower gap cover. Is that left open? Any photos of the rear install hardware and gap coverage? I'd like just the flap without the adjustment feature.

@Obone A little tough to describe. You are correct. The clip only goes over the flap in the notch. At first I thought the flap slid just behind the thin fender well liner but then realized that if you do that the flap is only really attached to the thin liner. If you slip it behind the thicker fender skirt with the webbing you end up securing the all 3 pieces together nicely. In other words if the clip and screw look like my first photo you are all good. Sorry for the confusion and if this just confuses it more! ;-)
I received my front set today, got them installed, and I appreciated the simplicity and excellent fit with my Rubi rails. As Jon noted, you do want to make sure the new flap is behind both the well liner and the piece behind it. It seems natural (and important) to do that, but reading the directions might lead some to other conclusions. The directions say to slide the flap "up and behind the factory splash guard" which leaves it a little ambiguous, since it doesn't point out that there is a another plastic piece behind the (liner) guard. Thumbs up! But yes, I have to paint those thumb screws black as others have quickly noted.

The lower gap get covered by the flap that you install. I was worried too but it was easy to do especially if you have an impact wrench. It's an easy fit and well thought out.

I also received an email today saying, "Shipped", but it may take a while for the "priority mail" truck to make it all the way to Indiana.
That didn't take long at all. The package was at my front door when I returned from work this evening.

I finished the install today by attaching the rears and I was impressed with the fit and finish. Only issue is getting the OEM plastic rivots out without breaking them for the front flaps. I broke 4 of the 6. However, you don’t need them anymore after the install. Hope they curtail the amount of crap sprayed on the sides. We will see...

In the XL's how much travel adjustment is there side to side?

Also are the backs really needed? or would it look odd to have the standard flaps on the back?

I don’t have the XLs. I have the regular sized ones.

Good thread and thanks for the advice. Mine are going on the Punk’n this weekend. Excited to keep spray at a minimum.

Someone else asked this a few posts back quoting someone else, but since you have the XL's installed, was there much adjustability laterally with the flaps? In other words, was there any leeway to install them tucked further in and not have the XLs sticking out from the vehicle quite so far?

Gray flaps with orange logos installed. Quickest and easiest aftermarket install I've done so far. I think they compliment the Jeep nicely (though they probably could stand to be even a tiny bit wider)

The XL’s have 4-5 inches of travel available. I have mine in all the way.

I installed mine today and although I like the way they look, I am disappointed that that lower cover isn't able to be reinstalled. The mud flap covers the lower portion of the opening behind the wheel but there is a couple of inches between the flap and the larger wheel well liner where tire spray will go. I can see the wires leading to my parking sensors up in there.

Installed my front only, no holes, regular size, black/black. Super easy, no problems at all. Didn't see where the flaps might be easily cut by the retainer clips. Fit was perfect.

Not a big fan of the gray knurled screws. Will replace with a bolt/flat washer later on.

Will probably get a rear set. I have an after market rear bumper and the mounting holes for the rear splash guards are already exposed.

Still debating if I should get a full set of XL...if they went on sale, that'd make the decision WAY easier. ;-)
