Just want to let y’all know I appreciate all of the replies! I know it sounds like a silly question, but as someone who has spent MUCH more time in the saddle of a motorcycle than a jeep, I just felt like I needed some community input. I know a jeep will never match the thrill of the raw power that a bike can give or the feeling of going through some twistys, but as someone who genuinely enjoys the purity of the outdoors, I absolutely love the feeling of chilling on roads surrounded by trees and the open air. Now maybe this feeling is even more exaggerated by the two wheel excitement (which I may have not accounted for) but I was just wondering if that open air excitement of a jeep is comparable to a bike or if they are more so two separate feelings.
Love y’all and again appreciate everything

All jokes aside ima be honest I probably drive with no doors and no roof more then I should but that’s because I love the open feeling that’s why I have convertibles motorcycles my fantastic treks etc but one thing I do hate when driving with everything off is the damn wind hitting you in your face and making you look stupid in the wind lol

Hi all,
Not-so-long time stalker and first time poster, I’ve been recently comparing various vehicles to purchase but wanted to hear opinions from current motorcycle owners or previous owners.
How does driving in a wrangler compare to driving a motorcycle? Are they comparable? I’m not talking about speed and adrenaline, but that feeling of being in the open air and feeling free driving around town or on backroads. It’s almost an indescribable feeling but I just wanted to know if there were some people who knew what I was talking about and could give their full input on it comparing that feeling on two wheels versus four.
Appreciate y’all in advance!
Sorry to anyone who’s opinion differs but even with the top off and no doors you still will not get the feeling a motorcycle offers of freedom. I own both and they are not comparable. The wrangler gets close, and off-road in the given scenario it is a blast, but with the front windshield up you still feel like you’re in a car, and you are lol.

But you have a different cycle for different purposes and only one Jeep. Where is your cruiser Jeep? Your fast Jeep? Your rock crawler? Desert runner? Just one general purpose Jeep? At least add a 392, they make a good compromise cruiser/fast Jeep!!?

A”Cage” without a top or doors is still a Cage— lifelong 55 year rider and Jeeper . ? Love both but they are not the same!?

They are not similar at all … IMO
The experience is completely different, the ride is different … other than being exposed to the elements there is no similarity

If you dress like this and get hit by a car on your motorcycle, you will get a TERRIBLE case of road rash.

If you dress like this in your Jeep and roll your Jeep (with your seatbelt on) you will probably be ok.

P.S. Looks like a nice location for biking tho.

Other than the wind and the sensory overload of being exposed to the environment ...it's not like a bike. After riding for 53 years I sold the big bike and got back into a Jeep. The wife enjoys the experience as much as the bike.I still have a Sportster to ride around town when I get the urge.I will never be without a motorcycle!

To me, with the top and doors off, it is a comparable feeling of freedom! And, no need for a helmet in a Jeep! Plus I have a cage above me, air bags, and bumpers that will total most cars in an accident.

The closet car I ever drove in comparison to a motorccyle was the original Toyota MR2. BUt that was back in the early 90s. I'm sure there are a lot of cars that handle as well or better today.

But still, the sense of being one with the machine and it responding to your move can not be accomplished on 4 (or 3) wheels. Leaning, counter steering, brake loading, acceleration that no car has. Nope, not with a Jeep. Most bikes that are considered slow today are still faster than almost any car on the road.
Fun fact, I have an 86 MR2 5spd in my garage. All new suspension, aftermarket lightweight wheels, otherwise bone stock everything else. It's a go kart that is super slow. Love the old bird.

Not a good comparison. The Wrangler is like the ultimate convertible whereas the bikes I own are all pretty much single person naked or Supermoto/sports oriented. With the exception of heavy jeans I'm pretty much in full gear head/toes all the time. Completely different experiences in my case anyway.

Well it depends on money too and how much you plan to go off road. Right? A bike is no doubt the much cheaper option, especially with gas prices now. You'll have more coin in your pocket with a bike. But if you can see yourself off-roading and using this vehicle as your daily driver, go with the Jeep. A bike really isn't an "all weather" choice, compared to a Jeep.

Both are fun. Both have a nice community. Both are completely different. If I ever ride again it will not be until after my kids are grown. Several close calls myself, plus 13 years working in an ER have made me paranoid of riding. Too many idiots with cellphones out there, and other bad drivers.
