Yup, that looks like crap quality.

Now, tell us the rest of the story. What was the low price Internet website you purchase it from? If it was a quality site they should replace at no cost to you.

I just put a new one in mine tonight and didn’t have any issues thankfully.

There was a post here linking to a YT video where a guy does independent tests on several filters, I will try to find it today.

I went with an AFE dry filter. The following 2 vids show the initial and the 2nd install. I bought a second one so I could swap out and have the clean one available for after longer, dusty trips.

I just bought two from the dealer I work for and they were fine. I am sure that is the exception and not the rule. Pretty sure that for everyone that whines on the interweb there are a hundred of us that got the part just fine from the dealer.

Just asking..... I used to use K&N in everything I own that required a filter that K&N had a replacement for. I recently read this :

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html/amp

and it kinda threw a monkey wrench into my old school way of thinking. What has your experience been with the K&N ? I am looking for a replacement for the factory filter now, and thinking its better to stick with the Mopar or maybe the AcDelCo... Thanks.

Totally understand your concerns
I can only describe my experience
Purchased the K & N installed at the 5,000 mile mark. YES, the factory air filter didn't need to be replaced, but I like working on my Jeep and decided to go for it. I now have 14,890 miles (approximately 10,000) with zero issues
I haven't even thought about it until several recent posts here in the Eco-Diesel forum
I would describe my experience as very happy & worry free
PS> my Eco-Diesel is the 3rd GEN if it matters, ordered Jan 2022, received Feb 2022
