My new loaded RubiX with v6 was $63.5k when I picked it up last August.

A far cry from the 392. Trust me, I wanted the 392. But the $30-40k difference simply was and is not worth it.
OK— about $10K, early 21 392 $73.5K

If the water diverting scooped hood, reinforced frame, 8 HP 75, a couple other 392 specific things were optional waddaya think they would cost ? Damn sure wouldn’t be cheap.

Yeah but that's like 3 years prior. Those 3 years make a big difference in every factor.

My 2005 loaded duramax dually was $40k out the door.

Those sucker's paying $120k now...20 years later.

Cmon man.

Agree- I likely couldn’t swing a new one at the current price. Even if I could, uhh , 🧏‍
“Your High Dollar Jeep” would be unbearable. 🙄

For example. Local 2024.

$39k difference between the v6 and 392. Wasn't worth it IMO.

2021 price was good. Those days are long gone.

I remember looking at a loaded v6 Rubi around 20/21, what I recall it was high 40s.

Thanks Brandon.

This new scientific method everyone seems to be using really is wild.

🥴
Yep. Going off real world evidence instead of believing as gospel something some person made up and wrote down in a book. 😜

I think there's more to it than that. Critical thinking and all.

More common <> always better.

Finding an AX15 was probably cheaper than finding an NSG370 for a long time. Now, I'm not sure, the JK has been around for a long time. And AX15's are getting pretty old.

A single point of anecdotal evidence confirming or to the contrary does not necessarily create broad truth. But yes, because of price, availability, and a long time ago, I'm sure a lot of people used AX15's and built them. They were a common manual transmission across trucks and Jeeps.

Now I'm wondering what a used 3.6 goes for versus a 2.0. And we obviously know which one is better.

I am going to have a bite of crow though. I realized the torque rating on the 370 is actually 370nm. Using new math, that works out to 272 ft-lb input torque rating. I would probably opt to build either transmission for use behind a modern small block. And why not use a T56 if you're going to that kind of work.

Behind a modem small block? The thing isn't rated for the torque of the 2.0t. I damn sure am not going to the trouble of a v8 swap and then being afraid to get into the throttle because my transmission will have 6 neutrals if I do. Hard pass.

At the risk of continuing down the path of magazine racing...

https://novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmissions/manual/ax15.html

There is a substantial body of evidence of people running the AX15 behind mild small blocks with no ill effects.

Sure, you put a lot of power out of even a built small block, or beat on it like a rented mule, it won't hold up. But all of the evidence shows it's substantially stronger than the NSG.

If I were building a manual transmission Jeep with a small block or bigger I'd go with an NV4500 or likely an SM465, T18, or NP435 for strength. The T56 is fine but there is no real support for 4WD applications.

Honestly I believe Jeep will bring back the Auto V-6 and more colors. I think they kept everything boring so people would just go out and buy a 2024 just to clear some lots. I mean it works, why go through all the hassle of making a order when you can just go to the lot and pick one up with the same color and maybe grab a V-6 auto while we're at it, aaaaannnnd buy it for a little cheaper.

I hope they replace it with a strictly solar powered Jeep Wrangler on 40s. This would be the best move. I'm so tired of killing the environment.

Or maybe it could be wind powered and you'd never lose energy!!! As you move forward, it blows the fan and the fan generates electricty and we have.....

Finally! Someone talking about real transmissions with a proper 1st gear for wheelin, and not child's play 😉

That super pretentious Jeff Bridges gif (Tron?) was a much more amusing post, so I'm gonna pretend you didn't change them out after you thought better of it. Because, let's be real, in the future and in the present, you are not Jeff Bridges or the Tron mastermind, you're this grumpy old guy

Not saying inflation doesn't suck, but that's just not true. My 2021 Rubi XR stickered for $61k and it was far from fully loaded.
