Nice man! Looks great! How did you cut it off?So I took va72mlibu advice and cut mine. Thank you for all the help.
basically the same way as you recommended. Taped it off, used a 4” cutoff wheel and then ground it smooth and touched it up with semi-gloss black. Matches perfectly and cannot even tell it was done.Nice man! Looks great! How did you cut it off?

I spayed a little self-etching primer, then two coats of semi-gloss rattle can (Rustoleum probably?) I masked very carefully, so I was only painting the newly exposed metal. It's nearly impossible to tell mine was cut.I am considering this tire carrier and I am also interested in cutting off the extra tab. What paint did you use to match? Great job guys!
I’m about to cut my tab off. Did you use a 4” metal cutting wheel on a grinder to cut it off? And has everything still been rock solid?Like it never even happened!
yes and yes. Worked like a charm. Tape it off.I’m about to cut my tab off. Did you use a 4” metal cutting wheel on a grinder to cut it off? And has everything still been rock solid?

looks good! Nice job.
Well, I did it. I even left the carrier hinges bolted to my Jeep. It was super easy. Thanks for the advice!
