However, Jeep did a great job with this special edition, they should’ve just used a different name, something that highlighted the 4WD Selec-trac.
I think some of the people on here would still get upset that they didn't beef up the Rubicon regardless of what they called the MOAB.

Actually read through the article. Seems to describe to positioning of the MOAB in the Wrangler lineup precicely. Great off road, but not quite like a Rubicon when it comes to rock crawling.
Yeah, they just didn’t get the right Jeep with the right name, when people hear Moab, they automatically think rock crawling. They say a lot about comfort in Moab’s ads, maybe should of called it the Sahara Seville or something. :)

This is not how I saw this thread going....seems no matter the raod, Jeepers take it off whenever they can lol

Seriously tho, I wasn't even trying to bash the MOAB. I was trying to understand the why. Honestly, if this started with different base features, I may have considered it. It's just everything standard is what I can "live without".

Admit it, folks, 90% of Jeep owners use their Wranglers strictly for mall crawling, and the MOAB looks way cool. How many of us can realistically afford to actually take one of these $60k cars off road, and scratch it all up, dent it on rocks, etc.? Maybe even roll it over, and total it? Such off-roading should be left to blue smoke billowing with shot piston rings $6,000 old junker Wranglers, loaded with all sorts of stupid looking off-road bogus fake accessories.

My issue with those beautiful Mopar LED lights on this particular gorgeous MOAB is: What's to stop a thief from taking a screw driver and 2 minutes of his labor to take 'em and run, whilst you are fast asleep in your Hilton hotel room, at 2:30AM? I would think you'd be lucky if they last even 5 minutes.

I think the best for what you're thinking would be a Sport S with KM2 tires added on. A lot of the Price of the MOAB is the fact that it just comes fully loaded with very few things remaining optional. I mean Dual Top group or Sky One touch... and do you want to add the tow package? that's about the only boxes left to click. on there. The only Rubicon I've driven was just as decked out as any MOAB out there. so its all in what each owner wants in their Jeep.

Fully loaded mud runner? MOAB
Rock Crawler? Rubicon
Daily Driver AND off roader? Sport S/Sahara
Blank slate for the modders? Sport

I bought mine primarily for beach crawling with the top off. Also for the occasional NC snowstorm, and to a lesser extent, mild offroading. It meets those needs just fine, and has the added creature comforts for daily driving. The only thing I don't really get about the package is the stock KM2s, but I will just swap to something less noisy after I wear through them.

I could use some KM2s here in Winston... all the trails I've found here are pretty muddy

Seems like Rubicon owners can’t get passed the name, and I agree on that point. Jeep greatly missed an opportunity to use the MOAB name on a beefed up Rubicon.

Jeep used the Moab name on a similar Sahara-based JK as well.

It's just a name.

It would be like complaining that the Ford Raptor's features aren't well-suited to a raptor's natural habitat.

Who cares! Raptor sounds bad-ass!

I'm pretty sure a Ford Raptor would do just fine in the long grass! :giggle:
