I have had good success with those plug in noise makers that emit a high frequency sound. Haven’t had mouse issues in the kitchen or garage since. Also using the baiting systems work. I have one under my grill on the back patio and seen 2 mice with holes in their torso from eating them so far this year.

Dryer sheets?? What the heck are you going to do with that? Make his fur fluffy and soft, lol. Never heard of that one. Here's the deal, I've learned this the hard way, once you have mice in the house/garage/Jeep they aren't going to leave. Kill it.
after the first sign of mice, I began using dryer sheets: they can't stand the smell & I haven't had one problem since: usuallr wrap them around various hoses or tubing to allow the scent to permeate the engine

Coyote urine worked for me many years ago in my 99 Explorer. Just placed some drops near the areas of the bay where I noticed activity.

Had my wife’s car stored at my brothers property outside for a year while she recovered from a seizure. After reregistering it and getting on the road, wow horrible, no wires chewed but they must have nested/pee’d/crapped in the vents. Brutal.
Drove home 50 miles with the windows open in the winter.

Rats are a fact of life in the Florida countryside. My wife had them in her new van (before we traded for her Sahara). Our Catahoulas chewed up her front fender trying to get at them. I’ve had rat droppings on top of my battery too. Our only solution has been to move the vehicles to the front yard, away from the shop and chicken coups and rabbitry.

Traps don’t dent the population. Almost every night I am outside with either a headlamp and pellet gun or night vision scope. That drops their numbers, temporarily. The dogs kill a few as well. We cannot set out poison because of the dogs and wildlife.

It is a cyclical thing. Some years we are overrun, others you don’t see any. It’s just something we have to deal with.

Thanks for the education Jeff. I never thought of rats in Florida because of the Alligator population. Then again I imagine there’s probably not a rat population near swamps.

Steve, we have plenty of rat snakes too, but they can’t keep up with them.

Can't speak to mice, but spraying vinegar all around engine bay, wheel wells, and perimeter works to keep squirrels away. I respray every month or so
