Aside from USB, is there another media source for recorded music? Is there a slot for say an SD card? I have a 21 Rubicon with the premium Alpine system on order. Is there any limits on removable media size? Thank you for any guidance. Last Jeep had the 730 N with a hard drive and CD player...

I used 500 GB portable hard drive and it worked great. I also use a Fiio music player that connects via usb.

Thanks...exactly what I was looking for. It seems there is a SD card slot. What type of format did you used on the USB drive if I may ask?
I have this drive. Worked out of the box:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJRS6QY

Okay link is not perfect, since I bought it in 2018. Anyways its a 64GB low profile drive. Its plugged in the center console. That is the only issue, the Jeep will revert back to USB1 if I have not used it for a couple days... but its not really a problem. :)

There is no SD card slot in the JL.

There's a USB C and USB A port in the front Media Hub.

There's a USB A port in the center console.

Some models have 2 additional USB C and 2 additional USB A ports for the back seat passengers on the back of the center console.

Thanks for the clarification...this link: UConnect_file_format_RD2_04-02 (driveuconnect.com) seemed to indicate there was a SD slot. Its under device connection.

That's not for the same radio. That file is from 2017 and is for the 8.4 inch RA3 radio found in other vehicles. JL model year starts at 2018 and the 8.4 inch radio is the UAQ.
Thanks.... I really appreciate the scoop. I don’t know as my Jeep is on order and the last Rubicon had the old 730n. Just trying to get some music together and figure out what I can do beside using Bluetooth.

If you absolutely must use an SD card for some reason, you can get a cheap SD to USB adapter on eBay and just use that.

Nope....no specific reason. Just wanted to know if there was one available. Thanks for the suggestion.

File format is FAT32, windows pc can format usb drives in FAT32. I use WIndows Media Player to record disc to usb via LG blu-ray burner drive.

My JL's head unit will process lossless .flac files (that surprised me) and I use a 128GB USB 2.0 drive for music. It works just fine.

My unit does not have an SD card slot.
