Hey guys I’m thinking about purchasing the metal cloak parts in the picture below.

I’m hoping to improve my steering / tracking a bit and I know it’s going to be at Jeep at the end of the day but I think this is a good place to start. I don’t want to do a full-blown lift yet because I really like my 392 with my BFG K02 C loads 37s and factory lift.

Any thoughts on ordering these parts or anything I should know ahead of time?

If its just for your steering and track you should only need front lowers or uppers to adjust caster. (Most do lowers for the added strength) You shouldn't need enough adjust to need both.

Another point to adjust is your balljoints they are incredibly loose from the factory and tend to click. You can torque them down.

That is a lot of money. Unless you are lifting more than stock all you need is the $35 mopar LCA to correct caster. Those MC might even be too long for stock.

you could also try the AEV Geometry correction brackets. It reuses the stock arms but gives you about 6 degrees of caster. I think they are relatively cheap as well.

Why would you get the MC tie rod and not the Drag Link?
I wouldn’t pay for the rocksport stabilizer. I had mine on for 2 days before replacing it with a Fox through shaft. Night and day difference.

I didn’t really want to lift it anymore than it already is but if I was going to choose something I would go with the 2.5”. If I do that, then I’m gonna give my take offs to my wife and just do the whole thing.

Just for reference... here is my XR with the Metalcloak 2.5" with stock wheels and tires (315/70R17). I gained about 1.5" in the front. The rear was about 2" taller than the front and I swapped for 2 door 2.5" rear springs to level it out.

I’m thinking a complete kit then, including a new steering stabilizer and possibly shocks. Does the 2.5” MetalCloak kit come with all the necessary steering components as well: Drag link, track bar, knuckles, ball joints?

And how is the steering compared to stock? I really want to improve my steering

Potentially, the trackbar can allow for unwanted movement of the axle laterally. A SteerSmarts Yeti Pro (poly bushings) trackbar drastically improved my steering, especially noticeable at highway speeds. Assuming you have the latest steering box, you might also replace your factory balljoints with Dynatrac joints. I did this last week and it took the last little bit of play out of the steering (and shimmy).

Comes with all of the control arms and front and rear track bars. No ball joints, drag link or knuckles.

What’s your take on this versus the Clayton Offroad 2.5 kit? I know sometimes that’s like asking Coke or Pepsi but I’m about to pull the trigger.

Everyone who buys either of these kits sing their praise. Hard to say which is the best, but both are very good options.
