Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide on M1 vs PUP 0W20 for my brand-new '25 JLU with a 3.6L. It has 900+ miles on it and I'm ready to get the break-in oil out.

I have used M1 for every vehicle I've owned for more than 10 years. No problems with it. I understand M1 isn't certified MS-6395, but claims to meet compliance.

The manual recommends "...oil that meets the requirements of MS-6395" which M1 claims to (although not certified).
Jeep Wrangler JL M1 vs PUP 1753293212559-77

Will I have issues using M1? Should I use M1? Should I just use PUP (seems to be the darling of many)? And why?

Thanks!

I've used Mobil 1, and both flavors of Pennzoil Platinum (regular and "Ultra") in my Jeep. The latter brand was a disappointment, in terms of recurrent shearing and viscosity loss as clearly plotted on the related used oil analysis reports. The metrics for Mobil 1 were consistently better, for both the Jeep and the two Hondas in which that brand of engine oil was also used. I no longer use Pennzoil products in any of our vehicles.

3.6 owners have used both and their cams still went flat.

I buy PUP at Wal-Mart for just under $25 and the 5-quart jug is the exact amount my 2023 3.6 Liter uses . . . no measuring, partial quarts, etc. I also buy the genuine Mopar oil filters at Wal-Mart for around $7.00

They are both quality engine oils! Your engine should be happy with either or........ I use PUP 5W30 in ours. If I lived in a cooler climate than Phoenix, then I would use MI 0w30. PUP doesn't offer 0w30. IMO, these are two of the best engine oils available, only second to Amsoil. But Amsoil is not your best bang for one's buck.

Walmart is the best deal around for oil, whether M1 or Pennz. Mopar filters are Wix/Purolator.

You are old school. ;) That stuff that turned to grease has been gone for decades.
