Looking Grim(er) For Stellantis

For having all this excess inventory it's pretty wild there isn't a single hydro blue sahara with 2.0 gas engine, leather, sot, and premium audio within 300 miles of me that I can find. Theres only a couple with the 3.6 but theyre more expensive plus I keep seeing issues with the 3.6 so why spend more money for it?Perhaps the real issue is they're forcing unwanted trims and packages on dealers?

Aside from that, they need to offer a lengthier finance deal. 36 months is a JOKE!

As of this moment, there does appear one that meets your needs ~344 miles away from you in Cedarburg, WI. Might be worth checking out, as it is $6K down from MSRP. Might be able to get more out of them. I have noticed the SOT models are not being marked down as much...

I'm very content with my 2019 JL Sport 2 Door. Purchased it Nov 2019 for about $27K (near $10K, below MSRP). It was returned from the previous owner due to a cluster lemon law issue the dealer couldn't fix. I suppose they just wanted to get this jalopy off their books.

With the savings, I had it repaired at a more competent dealership, lifted it, put on 35" tires and am actively proving to all my Jeeping buddies that you don't need lockers to do dramatically difficult stuff. I'm having the time of my life in this thing. Even much more happy now that I've paid it off.

This vehicle has been solid mechanically ever since. Absolutely zero issues over 82K miles (so far) and going strong. Other than the phenominally assinine ESS circuit design of which I continue to cope as my only nagging JL issue. Nonetheless, many of those miles are on the US Forest Service trails around me here in my homestate of Colorado. In fact I just led a trail run up Kingston Peak (FS 353) this past Saturday. Not challenging but really spectacularly scenic. Certainly John Denver 'high' sort of thing. Any day above treeline is a great day for sure.

Regardless, I'm no rich guy. Money means a lot. Penny pinching is certainly in my vocabulary. Living in the very blue county of Boulder has seen my property taxes increase by almost $2K anually over every post covid tax season. This has squeezed my discrenary spending and budgets into the territory of needing to abandon what I thought was going to be my forever home. Luckily (very red) Weld County is just a mile away and only about one fifth the propery tax rate. A move would be automatic if the current mortgage interest rates weren't so damn impossible.

So (for me), my near-to-long term expenditure plans have dropped to near zero. I'll drive my Sport until the axles wear off, and then probably replace them with lockers before I buy anything new.

The inflationary, labor bargaining, profit squeezing, govt subsidy and tax increasing environment that us consumers need to endure has reached my breaking point. Maybe I'm just the canary in the coal mine, but Stellantis and all the Auto Manufacturers, in my opinion, need to really fail before all of this nonsense stops. Only when the economy turns around, where goods and services become more affordable for the non-elite productive class (the majority), will things then get better.

You will not see me in any Stellantis dealership any time soon. I will happily contribute to their unit stockpiling, especially regarding the mandatory EV crap that Colorado has unfortunately adopted.

'We need a change' is more appropriate now than at anytime in my lifetime.

But maybe it's just me, and everyone else can use their EBT cards to make either their down or monthly payments.

Property taxes are bonkers in these types of places.
We moved from CT to SC outside of Charleston and we pay 60% of the property taxes we used to pay on our house in CT even though we paid 2.5x for our house in SC vs what we sold for in CT. And this is coming from a small CT previously-conservative town that had some of the lowest taxes in the state.
Car taxes on the Jeep went from $1,500/yr to about $300 and includes registration.

There’s nothing we got out of the town or CT that we don’t have here. It’s actually even better as the schools and services are fantastic.

Maybe Jeep will get sold and become an American company again. Seems like this push for turbos or electric is deveating from their core. With as many odd electrical issues as I have had with both my JLURs, there is no way I would buy an electric or hybrid Jeep.

Really shows in the build quality we've been getting recently. It's a bad situation all around.

For the most part my 24 is good. It's little things like the Trail Rated badges being crooked or rubber trim around the door that was just slapped on with almost zero pride in the job. Happy with my Jeep, it's my first and I love it, but just wish people could take pride in what they do but corporate overlords I know can make that difficult.

And I bet your credit rating is perfect, just like mine. I use my credit card for all purchases and then pay off the full amount at the end of every month.

I'm one of those people that actually pay their credit cards in full before the statement even comes out---with a zero balance. It's just easier for me to pay all my debts in full every two weeks than worrying about when something is due or missing a payment. I don't do autopay even with FUC&ING T-mobile. I've had multiple companies screwup autopay by taking two payments at once and then it takes 3 weeks for them to give it back (less anything you might owe on your next upcoming bill). I don't do debit because you have very little consumer protection with Debit and are at the whim of your bank.

Those quality issues stem from the historic low moral at the assembly plant as described by one or more Jeep employees on this forum.

Saw this fascinating article in the Wall Street Journal on Stellantis' decision to cut Wrangler and Grand Cherokee production in response to growing dealer inventories; something many on these forums have discussed. WSJ cites Jeep and Dodge as having a 4 month supply on dealer lots compared to industry average of 68 days.

"Factories temporarily stopped producing the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee sport-utility vehicles in the past week, people familiar with the matter said. Those models were among Jeep’s bestsellers through the first half of the year.

In a statement, Jeep’s parent, Stellantis, late Wednesday confirmed “production adjustments” at two Detroit assembly plants that make the Grand Cherokee, and another factory in Toledo, Ohio, where the Wrangler is produced. How many days the facilities have been idled couldn’t be determined.

The production cuts come as Stellantis grapples with some of the industry’s highest inventory levels and as sales have sagged, triggering complaints from dealers."

It's not Stellantis that wants EV Wranglers, it's the US and state legislators pushing that. Stellantis has been one of the biggest auto mfg pushing back.
