It looks like you can purchase the sensor now. BAM parts shows it as #71 in the diagram and refers to it as the sensor. Picture on diagram matches the sensor part. It's about time.
Cue someone buying in bulk, potting, reselling for a profit. Lots would pay a premium for that service, I’m sure! (I would have, but happy I was able to do it myself - I was nervous while drilling.)

Until you can get around buying them from Mopar that won’t happen.

Anyone not comfortable with potting their sensors can ship them to me.

I will pot them for free + cost of material + return shipping cost.

About to do this today to my 21 JLUR. Can someone confirm the cleaning of the sensor before potting? Should I blow out with contact cleaner, let it dry and then inject the potting compound?

If there's no oil in it, don't worry about cleaning it.

If you see oil in it, then clean it out.

I’m taking my ruby in on Tuesday for this issue. I hope to convince them to just order the sensor and give it to me. Then I’ll pot it and replace. If not they can do what they do and then I’ll fix it.

Mine was dry so no cleaner
As mentioned the drilling depth must be limited. I used a wood dowel to limit drill depth to 1/16th
dowel for depth.jpeg
Wrapping masking tape around the drill bit works too, but the dowel prevents a whoops if you're not paying attention. ?

Well I just got back from my 10 o’clock appointment to look at the sensor issue. When I made the appointment they asked if I was going to wait for my Jeep and I said yes. When I got there at 9:30 and told them the problem they told me they would get around to looking at the Jeep around 3. The service writer knew the problem but said he couldn’t do anything it had to go in the back and have a technician look at it. I said if you know the problem can’t you just drive it back and have someone spend 5 minutes looking at it then order the part so I can be on my way? He said no, what a screwed up system. I have a friend that’s an attorney and deals with car dealerships as his main area of practice. I’m going to call him and ask about recourse for a known problem that Jeep isn’t addressing.

Rant over

for now

I’m not sure what recourse you would have. They’ve been fixing the problem under warranty, just in a ridiculous way. Or are you just upset that you didn’t get to skip ahead of everyone else in the service line?

I’m pissed that this should be handled with a recall and that if you make an appointment and they ask if you want to wait for your car they don’t take you then. It’s BS to have to wait hours for something that’s known and parts need to be ordered for when the service writer should be able to take care of it and I wasn’t skipping ahead of anyone

They’re not going to order parts without doing an assessment. Have you never been to a dealer services department before?

Just back from the dealer again. This is a different dealer that I made an appointment with 2 months ago (their soonest available appointment). Dropped off the Jeep early this morning and explained the issue with the service writer. He didn’t have a clue so I talked with his boss and he said they’d probably need to order a whole new axle after the “technician “ diagnosed the issue. I showed him the newest service bulletin that shows you can now just order the sensor. He said great. 5 hour later I get a call and they tell me a technician won’t be able to look at my Jeep until Thursday. I go politely ballistic and ask to talk with the service manager. He says they are busy. I say that’s why I made an appointment 2 months ago. I then explain the whole thing again about them still needing to order a part and it will only take 5 minutes for a technician to verify. This was an hour ago. I’ll see how it goes. Maybe they just want to wear me down so I’ll order the $300 part myself.
