Do not put 37’s on a sahara youre planning to drive that much on highway .

yes but you will likely run into some other issues with that m187 “D30” up front.
Thank you you’ve been a lot of help

Soooo basically you have no experience on the subject? Only what youve read on forums?
In terms of having 37” tires physically on my JLU no I don’t have them and others that have posted do not have them. Just trying to help the guy out by sharing what we do know in hopes that someone who has 37” tires on their JL will chime in and provide further guidance. I’ve read through public posts and PM’s and got others first hand experience. So in a PM if I ask someone their experience and they say their rig is running sluggish then that’s that. Cannot I repeat calls more distant from the guard house than my own? Not once have I spread Mis-information on this forum but nice try though :) Go bark up someone else’s tree pal or get some more sleep.

You guys need to do more research . Im reading Dana 33’s and Dana 40’s on this thread doesnt even exist. The carrier on a dana 30 is very small and is “stronger” over JK but its not a great idea to be running 37 inch tires on a 30... unless all youre doing is highway driving . But if thats the case why even bother with all the other modifications youd need to do to make 37’s drive properly on a sahara?
I will however agree with you on the individual who made the Dana 30/40 comment though LOL

Just for the record it is much more ambiguous on the 2019 whether the Sahara with the manual gets the M220 standard or requires ASD. Based on the order guide it is standard regardless but the automatic gets the M200.

I have a Sport S with 33s. To me it already lacks punch on the highway. 37's and a lift and I think it will be a dog and gas mileage will be terrible. Also you will be putting a lot of strain on the axles.

By the time you invest all that you could have bought a Rubicon.

I'm not one of those people who think everyone should get a Rubicon. But I'm starting to feel like if you are going to lift and go with even 35s with the manual you should just go ahead and get the Rubicon.

I would love to hear from anyone who has done this and their experience. I have asked on a few threads but haven't gotten a response.

Dana 30's refers to the series since the JLU sport and Sahara ha 30 front and 33 rear these are encompassed in their 30's series axles, so in the case of the sport/sahara this is a s abreviation/generalization since they have two different axles. your comments are what makes me LOL

I have a jlu sport base model 6 speed on 37s. I achieved this with Rubicon springs + rc .75" leveling spacers up front, and aftermarket flat fenders. I have full clearance with the sway bar connected and would definitely rub If I disconnected, however i am just going to adjust my bump stops and that will suit my off road needs. As far as gearing goes, my jeep is currently a 4 speed. Lol I debated on building my Dana 30 but ultimately decided that would be a waste so I'm going to find Rubi axles and regear them to 4.88. I was looking at spending close to 4k to regear and build a D30 but take offs are going for 3500-4000ish from what I've seen and with regearing I'm looking at around 5500-6000 now but will end up with a far stronger setup plus lockers. I definitely won't say it was wise to go this route but I couldn't afford a rubicon and I like taking a base model and making it exactly what I want. Plus I will drive this Jeep into the ground so resale is not a factor in my mind.

5.13s are a great gear for 37s. Plenty of power. 2500 rpm at 70. I try to set cruise around 65 and am averaging about 15-16 mpg combined.

What about axle internal wall thickness and end forging integrity ? U joint size? Yea you can re-gear but are they strong enough for your use?0

I debated on that for a long time but I drive like a grandpa and can aquire better mpg if I can keep those hwy rpms a little lower. As terrible as it is to drive right now, I'm actually maintaining 20 mpg with my current setup.

The JL axles are entirely a new design and beefed up from the JK. Being new they may very well have undiscovered weak points but with everything I've seen others doing with the factory Rubi axles, I'm confident that they'll suit my needs just fine for my easy/moderate off road use.

The Dana 30 front, with a few upgrades, will hold 37"s for most weekend gravel road trips, but the internals are quite a bit smaller than the D44s. Really wouldn't recommend doing much heavy duty 4 wheeling with the D30 front and 37"s.

The Dana 35 (200mm) non-LSD rear axle is a redesign of the older D35, so until they are beat on we won't know how well the new ones will hold up, but again, they are not going to like 37"s at all. We've already seen twisted axle splines on the D44 shafts from 37"s, the D35 has even smaller diameter shafts, not to mention smaller bearings and gears.

Thanks so much for sharing. I think it's real important that people hear this first hand experience.

Honestly your story kind of confirms what I thought.
