Has anyone else with a manual had issues with getting into first gear? My Rubi seems to have a slight catch when shifting into first from a stop or downshifting at a slow roll. I am not sure if I am overthinking this or if I should get it looked at. I could just be still getting used to the new clutch.

Probably just getting used to the new clutch and gear mapping. I’m on day 3 of my new JLUR manual and am loving it. It is light years better than the JKU i traded in. But it is very different and I’m also still getting used to it. I often find myself going from R to 3 just because I haven’t yet programmed the new gear mapping in my brain/muscle memory.

You pick it up with time too me a little while to get use to as it just wanted to go when it catches and you it wants to shift to second by 10 mph so short lived

Also for anything rolling over 2mph just put it in 2nd

Thanks. I ran through it and it was. Will wait to see what the dealer told that guy. Again, I think that it may just be me. I had a Mustang manual and I have to keep reminding myself that it isn't that, when shifting, lol. I love the overall feel but didn't want to be killing my clutch ignoring something that I needed to have looked at.

^ This. I'd go even further and say if you're moving at all, don't go down to 1st.

2nd ratio in the JL is pretty damn close to 2nd in the JK, and I already do that now.

(My JL is sposed to be built next week)

Damn, this will be a far cry from what I do to my Honda transmission. I constantly downshift to 1st, even at 10-15 sometimes. I didn't try during my test drive, but definitely felt how much of a granny gear 1st is now. Any lower and they could just put "L" on the shifter like bigger trucks often do

Hmm. When I learned 30 yrs ago, I was taught never to downshift to 1st unless stopped (or close to stopped). Never lugged in my Hondas or VWs with MT.

If only my Wrangler were built so I could give more than theoretical advice...

Same. I have never downshifted to first in any of my manual vehicles. When your that close to stopped I just put it in neutral because first has always been harder to get into for all my manuals unless your going super slow. I’ll throw it in first from second when I’m in traffic and only going 5mph or less.
