JLU Fox Steering Stabilizer Issue?

I did compress it by hand, yes. i noticed it started to expand on its own afterwards. I remember when installing it I had to compress it repeatedly until I finally got both ends in place. it didn't expand rapidly, but just enough to be annoying on install.

I haven't noticed any pulling on a flat road or highway. I have read comments in this forum complaining about pulling to the right with this stabilizer, but I just looked around and can't seem to find them. there was talk about an early batch with problems, and one guy sent his back to fox for inspection, but I never saw anything definitive on the issue.

Yeah, I read that too which is the very first post of this thread, which is why I posted the same symptoms on this thread. So seems I have a defective one. How would you describe your before/after characteristics (OEM vs Fox steering stabilizer)?

i can't say I've noticed any difference at all. even though my OEM stabilizer has an air bubble or something and has no resistance initially when you move it, I haven't noticed any difference with the Fox installed.

I installed the Fox a few weeks ago. No pull detected. It took care of my steering wobble, too. The shock body is mounted by the right wheel.

I had the fox put on today in place of the new updated mopar part that is on backorder by the dealership. It pulls to the right. I noticed it right away and after searching found this thread. The dealership installed mine with the main body in the center of the jeep, not by the wheel. Was there installation instructions with this? Maybe it is backwards? All online pictures i can find show it installed differently.

quick update, I flipped the unit around and the pulling went away. I have now had it on for a while and like it much better than the factory one.

I’m new to the forum but I have the same issue. Mopar Lift and 37’s with the Fox 2.0 SS l. I just put TeraFlex Alpine adjustable front lower control arms and a Steersmarts Yeti front adjustable trackbar on over the weekend and took it in for alignment. The 4x4 shop that did the alignment says everything is set great and the only thing they can think of is the fox SS is the reason for the significant pull to the right. I’m going to try and put the old SS on tonight and try it. I called Fox today and they said I could send the steering stabilizer back and they would release some of the pressure? Sounds weird to me that that’s what a solution could be. also quadratec has the ATS neutral stabilizer on sale for $349 which is tempting but I don’t want to throw more money at the problem until I fully understand it.

You might want to also test it without any steering stabilizer to see if it still pulls. And what is your toe set to?

I believe I’ve found the issue as to the pull to the right. Here’s evidence as to why you should not not buy this Fox steering stabilizer. Watch the attached video of me compressing this and then letting it go. It expanded a full 8 inches after I tested it! I’ll be trying to get my money back. I thought it worked great at numbing the bumps when I first added it but this is unacceptable. It pushes my vehicle very quickly to right when driving.

Yea this is why you should only run neutral force or equal force stabilizers.

Update: I put the OEM mopar SS back on and it drives great now. Problem fixed

Arteus: the steersmarts yeti front trackbar made a big difference too. Looks like you are still running OEM trackbar, prob the best improvement I’ve made to handling.

Honestly having gone through all of these steering changes and seeing what’s worked and helps I would most likely buy the Steersmarts draglink and Tie rod for just a little more money than a $450 Fox ATS or Falcon Steering Stabilizer and run my Jeep without an stabilizer that wears out and needs to be replaced or gets cracked on a rock on the trail. I bet that would be the best bang for the buck if you want improved handling.

Arteus: the steersmarts yeti front trackbar made a big difference too. Looks like you are still running OEM trackbar, prob the best improvement I’ve made to handling.

It’s actually the updated trackbar (with stiffer bushings) as per the latest TSB.
