..and Chad, @IronChad if @JeepCares doesn't come through--and I think they will if the dealership doesn't, here's what you do:
Write a certified letter to one Tim Kuniskis, current head of the Jeep Brand with Mike Manley, former President, being promoted to head of all of FCA with Sergio Marchionne's recent passing.
You can find a decent corporate address for FCA on the internet. Regardless of which FCA mailroom it reaches, the staff knows that to do with "letters to the President."
Kuniskis will never see it. That's not his job, which is strategy and mission type work. But a well funded and specially trained staff under the auspices of the "Office of the President" will. You will get assigned a case number associated with the big boss' office. A sympathetic and intelligent member of Kuniskis staff will respond to and track the matter through resolution. You'll be given their direct contact information.
I will get resolved.
And the reason it will is part in parcel with why and when we use this remedy fellow bboard members. We don't pursue this avenue for "missing tire inflation caps." This is for the big stuff that truly are to a customer's loss, that weren't taken care of and documented by the customer.
Chad: I really get that the excitement of the new Wrangler purchase finds such problems a kill joy to the experience. But as you point out, it will be taken care of, and you will enjoy your rig in good health: the truly most important part of life.
Take solace in the idea that one of the many great aspects to this bboard, in addition to information exchange, is that despite its independently run status, FCA is here listening.

How did they determine the value it would cost for repair? I think the biggest thing is the guy just didn't respect your request to do an inspection which was beyond reasonable since you were driving 5 hours. That cost you time, hurt the experience, and the ability for them to make it right. That's a bad taste, now the AC isn't working that is magnified. If repair cost on a brand new vehicle exceeds the amount they cut you on a check I'd be livid.
