They don't give a damn about anyone, my engine blew up catastrophically at 26,000 miles, the new engine is backorder, and they really don't want to do anything about it. I just wait endlessly.
What do you expect them to do if the engine is backordered? Take an engine out of a different jeep and stick it in yours?

This is not the hill I would die on.

Never count on people or companies to spoon feed it to you and follow up. The devil is in the details and I am sure there was indications of dates when things expire and you would be on your own.

Honestly I'd rather change my own oil. We got some free oil changes on our 4runner, they stripped 2 bolts and overtightened the drip bolt on the oil filter so.much, I still haven't been able to unscrew it.

Dealership service departments suck.

If it is under warranty, yes.

Car companies always say parts are "backordered" when they continue to churn out new vehicles containing those very same parts, and it's frustrating.

EDIT: I wanted to make it clear that TC's lack of planning is no one's fault but his own.

Companies only care about money. Unless you effect their bottom line, they don't care about you. The bigger the company, the more sales they get, the less you as an individual matter to them.

It's just like YouTubers, when they're small and don't have a lot of followers the answer all your messages. The second they blow up and get huge, their priorities are remapped and they no longer respond to you unless you write some negative shit. Your best bet is stick with small local companies if you want to be treated like a prince. Create positive press for them and you will get treated better than well.

I always get important stuff in writing. If you called them, you should have followed up with an email. You can hold someone accountable with an email. If you don't have a ticket number or a completion email from Jeep-Cares , then the call never happened.

This being said, many companies care about their customers, but naturally an ant who bites you is a nuisance, a whole colony biting you is something you fix immediately. Your best bet is try to get on the news, or cause negative press, otherwise, you're just one tiny little ant who doesn't matter.

You're asking the dealer to perform DOUBLE the labor without being paid to do so, to put in a used engine. No manufacturer in the entire industry would do what you're asking. You're nuts and are outright unrealistic in your expectations.

During COVID my Jeep Wave oil changes were going to expire. Since the dealerships were all closed I called Jeep to see what they could do. They extended my oil changes given the situation. I asked them at that time if they could send me an email confirming this along with any paperwork that I would need to get the old changed. They told me that it was all in the system and that all I had to do was to go to any dealership and they would be able to find them by the VIN number. I dont drive my jeep much so I just finally hit the mileage where I should get the oil changed. I went into the dealership and was told that the oil changes they gave me had now expired. Since I was not given any paperwork or told about any expiration I did not know that it was going to expire. If I did then I would have gone and get the oil changed before they expired. Jeep never sent me an email or any communication indicating they were going to expire. I called Jeep Cares (jeep does not care) and walked them through this and asked that they replace the oil changes since I had no idea they were going to expire. They were NOT willing to do anything and the only thing they suggested was that I buy more oil changes. I wanted to let everyone know that Jeep does not care. Very disappointed that they did not take ownership of the fact that they never send me any paperwork or told me that there was an expiration.

Gando.

they may not care. But you can’t drive that long on used oil. You quoted 175 for a oil change. My dealer will sell you a package of oil changes for that. Your the reason I don’t want to buy used vehicles

Covid started March 2020. By 2021 the retail world was mostly opened up. It’s now 2 years later.

You can possibly call Jeep Cares and see if they will give you back your free oil changes but….. if you can afford a Wrangler you can afford the $50 or so to get an oil change
I am not sure why being able to afford something has anything to do with the discussion. I can afford to have my wallet stolen 10 times a year, but I sure as hell am not going to let that just sit around and let that happen.

I believe you quoted the wrong person; I made no such claim.

I merely stated it's frustrating when an auto maker says parts are "backordered" or are "unavailable" yet continue to churn out new vehicles using the exact same part.
