I have never really used the Jeep Connect app and my free subscription is up in a few days and of course getting bombarded with notices to re-up. I can't think of a reason it is worth even $5 a month let alone $15 a month. Those that use it must feel differently tho. who pays and thinks it is worthwhile? I don't mind paying the $72 a year for Sirrus radio as I do listen to that most of the time.

lol no, if you use android auto or carplay it does the most important thing of connect and lets you know where you parked the Jeep.

I think there was a thread about this a few months ago. Jeep Connect, I believe, is the renamed version of SiriusXM Guardian, right?

I pay for it because I use the app for remote starting often, but that's the only functionality that I use.

I don’t use the service at all. I get bombarded with the notices periodically but I don’t see the value.

I do subscribe to the basic version of XM radio. I like that but the U Connect services I don’t use at all. Never have

I used it a little during the free trial, it was nice remote starting the car from a distance when landing at the airport or whatever, but that was like a one time thing. I let it lapse and haven’t missed it.

Also, given the troubles that some other carmakers are going through with privacy invasions (GM, Honda, Hyundai) I’m not excited to pay money to a service so they can steal and sell my data. I’m sure they’re stealing and selling it anyways but at least I’m not paying them to do it.

I also gave up SXM after being a long time customer, I found their sound quality was atrocious and the programming repetitive. I spend the same $$ subscribing to Spotify and I’m much much happier with that.

The majority of our off roading is in places where there's no connectivity. SiriusXM is just about everywhere and almost never cuts out. $6/month isn't horrible either, but you have to work them down to get that price.

Spotify is 100% the way to go, I do still have the Xm sub at like $80 a year just because sometimes I dont want to hook my phone up for a quick trip to the grocery store though.

You can download anything to your phone from spotify at extremely high quality so not having service doesnt stop you from listening. Currently have my almost 1655 liked songs list saved so I always have something to listen to.

Only thing XM has going for it is the Sports channels in the wilderness

Even when SiriusXM had reduced its price to $5 a month for the radio I declined their offers since I had never once used it during the free trial. I prefer peace and (relative) quiet.

However, I am a chronic worrier, so I pay for the "Guardian Remote" option that lets me lock the Jeep remotely. I probably use it at least once a month, just to be sure.

The price of $130 a year is not insubstantial, but much of that is probably to cover the cellular data connection.

I get notices about every single day for $4.99 plus tax so ultimately ends up $72 I have tried to get it for a flat $60 a year but so far they have not gone that low.

Don’t see a use for it. The jeep came with remote start and phones these days have a feature that shows you where you parked your car. I wouldn’t be surprised if people didn’t know that either… for iPhones if you open the maps app it’ll show you where you car is parked based off its last it connected to the jeep. For android… well you’ll need to google it cause I don’t and have android lol.

I subscribe to the Guardian Security piece for the theft alert/assistance. I don't trust my millennial theft deterrent device to be the only thing keeping my Jeep safe. Knowing if the alarm goes off at least informs me that SOMETHING is going on. With their annual discount it works out to around $10/mo. I spend more than that on coffee each week so I don't worry about it.

I hope to never find out but I hope the assistance side is prodding the local police to actually look for the thing if it's stolen. Previous experience has shown me they just write it off as gone in most situations and file their report.

My friend had his built Xterra stolen and it was someone who saw his Nextdoor post that noticed it sitting 4 blocks away a week later with a burnt out clutch, not the police.

10$ a month just to be notified the cars alarm is going off and to track it? I’d much rather just slap an Apple air tag in the car and call it a day. At least no monthly for something like that.

if someone steals my vehicle I never want to see it again. I have been driving since the 70's and never had a vehicle stolen but I swear if I ever did I think I would wait a day to report it stolen.
