If you're anything like me, you often think to yourself, "what can Jeep do to become even more unreliable". Chances are, like me, you've also come to the conclusion that the answer is, "nothing, they've already nailed it".
Well, fear not because the answer is finally upon us.
That's right. Jeep has found the answer. Join up with Land Rover to make the most unreliable car, "In the world".

Actually, that’s not the dumbest idea I’ve heard.

I’ve personally driven both Jeeps and Land Rovers in East Africa. The Jeeps were useless (nobody had any spare Mopar parts “out in the bush,” as they say). The LR’s were better in that regard. But let’s not kid ourselves: the things they sell as “Land Rover” these days have very little DNA in common with postwar Land Rovers. They’re posh vehicles for soccer moms, and they haven’t been analog in decades.

Such a JagJeep thing could sit in the niche of the Jeep Commander… only better.

Also, Stellantis seriously misfired a few years ago when it priced and placed the Grand Wagoneer against the MB GLS, Range Rover, and BMW X5/X7… all while pretending to have an elevated dealership experience.

Using the Jaguar Land Rover dealership experience solves that problem too.

Both JLR & Jeep have a serious problem with (BMW powered) Grenadier, and both firms will have a more serious problem with (VW owned) Scout Motors in a few months.

While I do like Land Rovers, they are, without question, complete and total shit in terms of reliability. There is a very good reason why it's nearly impossible to buy an extended warranty on one.

Let's face facts, Jeep is also not exactly known for being particularly reliable vehicles. For JLR to partner up with Jeep would be a step for JLR, but for Jeep that would be like Kanya West and Honey Boo Boo going in together to create a new fashion line.

Yes... but it's still a Jeep. It doesn't matter how much you increase the price. It will always be a Jeep.

Not sure what you did to your Jeep, but mine is very reliable. It’s had less issues than my wife’s last Toyota.

While I know everyone has their own experiences, you are talking about the most heavily modified vehicle on the planet that rarely stays in stock form.

On top of that, if you’re not just going to the mall, the people that purchase a Jeep are literally using them in some of the most remote rugged places in North America.

To prove my point, here’s a pic of me and my daughter at the Jeep Pirate Jamboree in PA. The Jeep drove home from that weekend with zero issues. You want to see more extreme, go take a look at some of the other pictures of places that people have been in their Jeeps. If they weren’t reliable, why would people like @wibornz take them so far out into the wilds. Overall, that seems pretty reliable to me.

Not bagging on you or the article, but I think some Jeeps have issues, but to declare that the brand couldn’t become more unreliable is being a little disingenuous.

FIAT actually managed to make Chrysler a slightly better product, so who knows. Maybe it goes the other way and makes Land Rover more reliable. I'm not holding my breath.

Are you referring to the Chrysler Crossfire, that was a dumping ground for the previous generation MB SLK's leftover parts?

Nah, I mean almost every brand under Daimler Chrysler in the late 00's.

Like what?
Cherokee/Durango/MB “ML” (now GLE) SUVs have a common heritage in the W166 platform, for example.

The 2004 Chrysler Pacifica (the one with swinging doors, not the minivan with sliding ones) was a particularly good example of the type. It was basically the MB parts bin, and it offered similar lines to a Cadillac XT5 some 20 years later.

Then, yeah, there’s the Crossfire.

The fact that so many people still don’t know about all the common engineering underpinnings suggests that firms can work together without cannibalizing each other’s “vibe.”

I mean, there are only so many ways to build a wire loom, stamp a seat mount, affix a windshield, etc.
