I was just happy to get the free part. I’m not interested in going into the fabrication business, but yes you are right.

This was some 13 years ago when spare tire delete brackets did not include a brake light, license plate holder, and license plate light, so I pitched it to a vendor and they liked the idea and made it. Today everybody is making these. They didn’t exist back then. Back then vendors simply offered a cover to cover the vent holes.

Seeing the strange plastic fingers posted above with screws suggested that some sort of more rational, small drawer pull, mounted through the push/pull part of the switch, might work as a grabber/pusher. But after going outside and looking specifically at the switches on my Rubi, I don't think there is enough thickness in the plastic to avoid cracking.

But this got me thinking. I've been putting auxiliary lights on vehicles since, oh, the late sixties. (The years, not my age!) With toggle switches!

So I went to a great vehicle lighting resource, www.rallylights.com to look at switches. This came close to what might work, as it is On-Off-On, but then it isn't momentary:

So I dug further. Going to Amazon and searching for "Double-Throw Toggle Switch" revealed a whole slew of possibilities. Toggle switches, paddle switches, and more. You might need to find a race car builder or similarly-experienced shop who could remove the Wrangler switches and install some sort of backing plate from aluminum or similar for mounting two or four of these switches, as appropriate. Then the connectors could be cut off or jumpers installed from the wiring harness to the new switches (for restoring factory switches when you sell the vehicle, er, IF you ever sell the vehicle). Momentary up = close window, center off, momentary down = open window.

You might be able to leave the factory switches as is (are?), splice 2 or 4 toggle switches into the existing switch circuits, and mount these additional switches on a switchplate or bracket made for that purpose. Just keep them away from airbag areas and/or possible body contact during impact/rough riding!

You could also look for a "long bat handle" switch, but I don't know if that would interfere with your shifter (I have MT6, so I would personally avoid a long bat handle, but on the other hand, my nails aren't as nice or as long or as feminine as yours!)

Ummmmm i read it twice. All i retained was that the toggle switches remind me of the switched my dad installed as a kill switch.. which i really wish i had on my jeep!
