I tried doing a build of a Rubicon on Jeep.com and it doesn't look like the XR package is offered as an option anymore. Is that true?

Yes you should be able to order the 35 inch tire package. The build site is terrible contact a dealer to build for you.

Yeah, I know...I wanted a JLR-X 3.6 w/4.88's but they only offered the XR or 35" package on the 2-door JL's with the 2.0. Lame and zero good reason, the 2.0 w/4.56's is also a good combo but I really like the overall smoothness of the 3.6 / 4.88 combo.

I purchased a Rubicon X that came with the recon package with 35s. I had my Rubicon at a Jeep specialty shop recently and the mechanics noticed that the knuckles were all steel and no aluminum which is a good thing. Apparently not all Rubicons have the steel or iron front suspension Parts.

The Jeep build website doesn't show it as an option (and the dealer build tool isn't great either) but if you read the Order Guide you get the Xtreme Tire Package standard with a Rubicon X and automatic transmission. I recently ordered a Rubicon X 3.6 AT and the build sheet says it has the Recon package with 35 inch tires and 4.56 gears.

All of the ones with the 35" tire package do. That's one of the upgrades of the package that most overlook.

For the JLU only, not the JL. At least least time I checked.

I prefer the 3.6.
Agreed, bought a 24 canyon, only had the 4cyl, traded it on my 3.6 JLRX 2 months later...it gasped for air, slow spinning to the turbo lag was ridiculous. Dealer said that's the settings for CAFE laws. LOVE my 3.6
