Is Jeep still including the Front Axle Disconnect on current wranglers? How do I know whether mine has it or not? I have a ‘24 3.6 Manual Rubicon

I’ve seen it randomly excluded from some builds, so I couldn’t tell you for sure.

Easiest way to tell would be to look at your front axle, and on the passenger side there will be a box on the axle tube. If that has wires plugged in to the back side, you’ve got it. If you don’t have those wires, it has the block off plate and no FAD.

I believe all 2024 Rubicons and Willys have the FAD removed. I have a 2024 Rubicon and do not have the FAD.

So far the only model I’ve see the FAD on is the Sahara. Even the Sport no longer has a FAD.

I work at a Jeep dealership, and it looks like they removed the FAD and went to CV joints on the front axles. I am not a fan of the FAD, but I do like it because I can run my caster at 6 and not get any vibration from the front driveshaft since it isn't spinning. I haven't driven or talked with anyone in a 24 that's done a lift, but I can only think not having FAD will cause a vibration.

That’s crazy. I’ve never seen so many changes to any other car model during its life cycle. No more diesel, no more v8, no more etorque etc etc
There are very few models of any vehicle that have more then a 3 or 4 year life span let alone 10 years like Wranglers.

I think the only way we could all really benefit from the FAD delete from factory is if they changed the axle housing as well. The big hole they have in there for the electronics and whatnot is still the weak point, even with the block off plate. If I have to have the hole, I'm happy there's at least a purpose for it.

Even though I have it, I still run my caster close to OEM at around 4.5-5 because I have the full-time transfer case and an aftermarket drive shaft. If I run it near 6-6.5, as recommended, I could still end up with vibrations whenever I am in 4-auto. Personally I don't mind the way it drives with less caster. Feels like a Jeep!

You’d be better off with free wheeling hubs then a FAD.

Jeep just proved the fact that the FAD was never needed on the JL at all. It was never an issue on the previous version Wrangler JK and it had the same factory caster spec.

My working theory is that they needed everything they could get due to CAFE standards. Either changes were made elsewhere or cuts to gas engines were enough that they were able to remove the FAD.

Mine is that they want to pass the IIHS small overlap crash test without rolling over, and this will affect how the axles and wheels move in the crash.
