Is Bronco worth the wait?

How am I fanboy if I drive a Wrangler? Must have missed the part where I said I'm a current Jeep Owner of a JL Rubicon and have also owned a TJ and JK. I focus on the Jeeps I drive, not marketing, anticipation or any of that jazz. That's all white noise and I only care about the end product. Even with its faults, for the fifth time, the Bronco has been universally praised thus far. The Bronco is a good machine and I'm a fan of it while not acting like the Wrangler or the Bronco are without their faults. Definite fan boys on this forum who dismiss problems with the Jeep that occurred at rollout and also turn away from why people are into the Bronco even if they aren't into it. As many fan boys on the Bronco forum who act like its the greatest thing since sliced bread. The rational viewpoints get lost in the shuffle of fan boy-ism's.

if all you had to go by was this forum, you would think every wrangler Uconnect doesn’t work, it steers into a ditch, the locker sensors will go out, the LSD will fail, the fuses will fall out, the welds will shear off, the hinges will rust, the turbo won’t last, the hard top wiper fluid will leak, the rear view camera will lose its backup lines, the ESS battery will fail, and the clutch will explode.

No one is harder on the wrangler than this forum. It’s amazing after coming here anyone would buy a wrangler at all.

This is true with the exceptions related to any posts praising the Bronco or threads about it.

I was to point I was going to trade the wrangler for bronco for better steering because of the steering box issue but once that was fixed, I was happy with Jeep, granted Wranglers don’t drive perfect on road because of off-road tires and solid front axles but I love jeep which is why I’m trade for a 392.

That "universal" praise was attained artificially, through months and months of a tightly controlled communications campaign, without anyone able to freely evaluate and review the product.

Now that the product is getting into the hands of the public, that praise is much less "universal", as we are seeing. And more is yet to come, I am sure.

Funny how dismissive Jeep owners are when Jeep has had problems over the years with soft tops AND hard tops. You know how many Jeep owners have leaky tops? The Ford top issue is a $hit show but Jeep owners acting all high and mighty as if the Jeep tops have always been 100% non-problematic is silly.

But Ford had years to get it right and really punch Jeep in the mouth. Instead, they are mumbling to themselves in the corner with piss running down their leg.

I'm in favor of waiting until the hype dies down, and ford has had time to work out the kinks. Say model year 3.

Yeah, I don't see how anyone can look at this entire debacle and still take Ford at its word that the product is just awesome, and everything will be honky dory once they get the hardtop fixed.

Pretty much everyone who has one is completely happy with the Bronco so not sure how much more praise is needed. Sure you might be able to find an outlier but it seems like literally every actual review on YouTube right now is a positive one.

Here is a video of the Bestop aftermarket softop.

I really like it. Looks a LOT more tight fitting than Ford's, and apparently comes with a regular removable rear curtain!

It took Bestop a few months to accomplish what Ford wasn't able to do after years of development.




I can see 4,000 Bronco owners lining up to replace their defective hardtops. As usual, well done @Bestop !

If Ford thought out of the box, it could put these tops on the 4,000 Broncos parked outside the plant and deliver them to their anxiously waiting owners. Then, when the new hardtops are fixed and ready, offer to swap them.

This would cost perhaps $10 to $12 million, between parts and labor, which is not cheap. But that would still be a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of money Ford has already spent marketing Bronco, and it would have tremendous publicity upside.

Unfortunately, at this point, I doubt there is anyone at Ford with the courage to make such a bold decision.

I like this idea but aren't thousands of vehicles awaiting a hard top rather than customers getting a soft top? I don't think thousands of customers would take their Bronco (I know I wouldn't) with this aftermarket soft top instead of getting a defective hard top. I'd rather take delivery with a defective hard top and wait on a replacement down the road. I don't personally agree with Ford's decision to hold all the hard tops now at this point with all of the waiting orders. It could be much more costly than 10-12 million when factoring in the cost of these tops AND the labor associated with installing and then eventually removing the soft tops.
