I’m on the forum ALL the time, I just don’t post. Sure we happy to send out free a T-shirt. Doing this story to inform folks about a potential issue and how Jeep is planning to address it.
NOT fix it is their plan. Cool phrases like 'its a jeep thing' cover it past warranty.

Yeah there's no way jeep has any plans to actually address it. I figure a lot of the price increases are probably to help cover the cost of all those corrosion warranty repairs they have to pay for.

For what it's worth I've got a couple paint bubbles on each side of my hood down where it meets the fender right in the middle. You don't even notice them unless you go looking for them. I never even noticed them when I bought it and I'm not entirely sure if they were there or not I don't know. The only reason I even know they're there is because when I took my hardtop in and had it painted they kept the Jeep to do the paint match for a couple days and the manager of the paint shop pointed them out to me when I went to pick it up.

My understanding was they were to replace the panels, hood and tailgate if affected.
Wait you're saying they'll replace your hood if you have rust and corrosion issues? Do you have to be under warranty still?

Now that I think about it, I too have rust and corrosion issues!

They replaced my hood, hinges and both doors due to the paint problems. The body shop manager said they were replaced because the problem extended into the seams. From what I understand the corrosion warranty is 5 years.

Starting to think Terry might be Linda
I get what you mean, with your username being like all official and everything for your channel/brand. But, you have a JL? You're part of the community. You have every right to chime in that I do, and you're probably better-informed on many things Jeep than I. If anything, I'd just get a different username for non-official TFL stuff if that makes you feel better about posting as a community member.
Shoot, now that I think about it, Linda is probably Tommy!! 🤔

@TFL , we have 3 JL’s with only one showing significant issues so far.
In order of purchase:
2019 JLR in Bikini, 54,000km, hung the full doors on the garage wall 2 years ago after getting half doors painted to match. Half doors were fully painted, meaning paint under where the hinges mount so have a physical barrier. I also installed a 3M film on the back of the hinges to provide a second barrier layer. The half doors have no issues. The full doors had some very minor (3or4, around 1mm in diameter) bubbles right on the hinges. This was dealt with under warranty. It was very minor and I thought about simply ignoring it as it wasn’t getting any worse. The only reason I decided to get it done was because the half door paint match required blending in of the surrounding panels so the full doors would have been “off”. The shop that paint matched the half doors is a Stellantis approved repair shop and had the paint code from the previous job, they used the same technique as before so I hope to have no issues with either set of doors.

2022 4xE Rubicon in Firecracker,24,000km. No issues……..yet.

2018 JLR also in Firecracker, 82,000km. Severe corrosion on the hinges and door edges. Bought the vehicle with 74,500km on it and asked 2 dealers about whether Stellantis would help with a repair as a goodwill gesture given the very low mileage for its year. Was told it was declined because the vehicle was purchased with it. This baffles me as it essentially states, had the original owner been given good service by the dealership they used and the corrosion warranty pointed out and used it would have been fixed with no issues. Because that didn’t happen and a new owner inherited the issue it won’t be.

I would love to obtain an email address for a senior executive at Jeep to ask them to justify their logic on the 2018. I’m not convinced it would change the outcome but wonder if it might result in a directive to the dealer network to put customers somewhere on their priority list and highlight what could be resolved rather than just pretend there’s no issues and leaving customers in their apparent ignorance.

As for all the interesting comments on here I’ll simply say this, sometimes it takes someone with a platform to speak up on behalf of others in order for a manufacturer to listen. If they get a few hits on YT I’m not certain that’s a reason not to have them do it.
I could put something on my channel which, with a whopping 20 subscribers, is definitely not monetized but also doesn’t get seen so what would be the point?
As with all things, your mileage may vary.
Thanks for the story. Interesting the dealer side adds a new dimension

After getting it "fixed" once before it came back. Most of the corrosion is not on the hinges where the hinges and door meet, but the lower portion of the doors. Was told that jeep had to change their fix for the issue and its just full panel replacement and better primer for the panels. There could be some help with the zinc but that wouldn't explain the corrosion lower on the doors or panels. Now when they check, they look for the lower door seem. This is my personal experience and explanation. Glad the dealership is taking care of it as a good will outside warranty fix. But three doors and labor was going to cost 6k. glad its free for me.
I’m in the middle of the same situation with my 2018 JL Unlimited Sports S and I’m hoping they do the work as a good will warranty or I’m stuck with it I suppose. Bubbling paint on a 6 year old vehicle isn’t a good look for me or jeep so I hope they do the right thing.

Thanks for the tip!
What's up Tommy. I am a fan of the channel.

I had corrosion on my 18' JLU Sport. But ditched it due to a lack of support from 2 dealerships. So, I have a short story to tell about that.

I ended up buying a 21' JT that blew an axle seal in less than 3k miles. Sold that right away about 8 months of ownership. This JT also had a TSB announcement for corrosion.

Now I have a 22' JLU Willy's XR. Not sure if this one falls under the TSB. I think this one had the updated door shims.

I am willing to go on a Zoom call, but I have never done it. A bit nervous, but willing to give it a shot if you're still looking.

I just wish you guys would hit the off road + button when you launch the 392. Trust me.
