Hi All,

My name is Tommy Mica, I am a producer for a YouTube channel called TFLcar.

Following up on the JL rust concerns. If you have been impacted and want to tell your story let’s do a zoom call for a video! Send me a dm or shoot me an email at [email protected]. Would love to hear your experience.
Thanks!
An entire podcast segment on JL corrosion? Really?

What's up Tommy. I am a fan of the channel.

I had corrosion on my 18' JLU Sport. But ditched it due to a lack of support from 2 dealerships. So, I have a short story to tell about that.

I ended up buying a 21' JT that blew an axle seal in less than 3k miles. Sold that right away about 8 months of ownership. This JT also had a TSB announcement for corrosion.

Now I have a 22' JLU Willy's XR. Not sure if this one falls under the TSB. I think this one had the updated door shims.

I am willing to go on a Zoom call, but I have never done it. A bit nervous, but willing to give it a shot if you're still looking.
wow I appreciate your commitment to the brand after all your challenges!

It's not even about commitment to the brand, lol.

Name another vehicle in the price range of a Wrangler that's anything at all like a Wrangler. It ain't the Bronco and it sure as shit isn't going to be a Toyota or Land Rover.
They've all gone soft. If you want a Wrangler there really is no substitute no matter how much Auto "journalists" try to claim there is.

You are 100% in the majority on this forum. And less so in the eyes of the general consumer :/

It was basically the only option. The Broncos were basically unattainable at that time.

I would have jumped over to the Bronco if I could have. 🤷

While I think Jeeps are fun as hell, they are pretty much toys and I wouldn't buy one if I couldn't afford to fix it. I can't believe the Pentastar is proving unreliable, the 2.0 has coolant issues (yet to see long term issues), the diesel emissions equipment was causing issues, clutch fires, not truly fixing recalls, corrosion, axle seals, electrical gremlins (fuse issues), 4xe charging issues, 4xe fires, etc.

The most frustrating thing about these issues is the lack of dealer support.

I was told that my paint / corrosion warranty was void if used my Jeep off-road. 🤣

Do trucks warranty get void if they're driven on a dirt construction site or used as a truck?

I interact with the general public enough to know that most of them are utterly retarded so their opinion doesn't matter in the first place.

I would say @TFL drawing attention to the issue can only be a good thing. They have large reach and good connections to the brands. It might cause Jeep to take the issue more seriously. I know when they had issues with their new trd tacoma's transfer case pretty much out of the gate first time off road, Toyota panicked in order to resolve it and get ahead of the negative press.

I'm sure a lot of people make buying decisions based off TFL videos. I know recently when I've been considering going back to a midsize truck from my half ton, I went and watched their towing showdown between all the options and came to the conclusion if I buy any of them, it would be a Colorado.

I just stuck a magnet to the tailgate and hood hinges. The body side appears to be steel and the magnet stuck to it, but the hood and tailgate sides did not attract the magnet.
Just seeing this! That makes sense now as I was holding the entire hinge in my hand.

If one of the marketplace vendors asked for a donor vehicle people would be lined up. You know they ask for a "free" vehicle so they can manufacture a "for-profit" part? They "use" one person and give them a couple hundred in "free" parts so they can make tens of thousands in profit.

Or, what about the marketplace vendors that post their 4th of July sale stuff, so "we" can save $50 and they can make hundreds or thousands? What about the dealers that offer a percentage off MSRP or invoice, are they for-profit too, damn them!

Some folks are really self-righteous pricks, and it isn't TFL; TFL, who came on here with clear and honest intentions. Maybe we should drain the swamp, and get rid of the marketplace and vendor posts altogether?

I guess if TFL had a 10% off coupon everyone would be raising their hand to get picked for the story?
You know someone needs to go for walk outside when they feel comfortable attacking other members asking for information to share with their YT audience. Acting as if they own the site. Maybe they are an HOA board member Karen, yeah that’s it 😂

My 97 TJ hit 80K miles before rust started to show up on the front fenders.
My 2018 JL didn’t make it 5K before hood, 3 doors and tailgate hinges were replaced. Bad prep on assembly line.
